i find it amusing that clear is running this one on all of its station...

starts out baseball play by play (the sfx dial tone)please deposit antothe 75 cents....(more babble) then ends radio should it be free?

it should say it would be much more truthfull if it ended... radio - you get what you pay for!

your not paying anything for listening so thats why terresterial radio sucks.

the quality of xm and siruis is so much better than houston radio -- it is worth paying for.

i'm sure if clear could figure out a way to charge you for listening they would. maybe after they all go digital they might come up with a scheme to endode the signal so you will have to pay. <P ID="signature">______________

Well, Clear channel is not the only Company running these commersials, I heard one of these on FM News Channel 97.5 as well. So it is not just Clear Channel. (and please don't assume I work for Clear Channel or that I am TheClearAnswer)

It's not CC but the NAB (National association of broadcasters)who are producing the ads for stations to counter the IPOD and Sat radio revolution.

Press release on it including the link to download the spots: http://www.nab.org/Newsroom/PressRel/Releases/113005_Radio_Marketing_Campaign.htm

Radio is free. Not really. Nothing is actually free.
You pay for the commercials played when purchasing the products advertised.

Digital ground based signal radio is not really intended to be free.
Don't think for one second that any business will spend a dime unless the return is pre-calculated and expected. That's "ROI" for those of us who were awake during high school economics.

And did you hear about CC and others forming an alliance to DECIDE what programming, etc will be done on the FM HD-2 stream? Its supposed to be commercial free...but that wont last. You BET they have to make money..
one way or the other...

Yes, the campaign has the right idea, but it's weak. I wish terrestrial radio would try just a little harder to seperate themselves. Use that :30 or :60 seconds of that PSA's time to provide more CONTENT!!!

This would be your opinion. I don't live in Houston so I can't form an opinion about your market's radio.

Quality of?? The signal or the programming or both? I've had XM for about a year now and I'm completely burned on it. Same thing over and over. I never hear creative promotions or compelling features. I just keep hearing "we're commercial free." So what?! That's like a station saying "18 Songs in a Row." That doesn't mean anything unless they are 18 GOOD SONGS IN A ROW!

I doubt it. Clear Channel is reaching more people now than satellite may ever reach. I believe HD2 and even Internet radio (with WiFi radio receivers) may take a lot of steam from satellite radio before it has a chance to truly become profitable.

You're just repeating the same rhetoric. Be more specific if you want to make comparisons. Just saying "XM and Sirius are better quality" doesn't say much. Tell me what is better, in your opinion. Even if I disagree I can respect your opinion if you justify it. Otherwise you're saying the same thing that people keep saying on forums, in newspaper articles, and in their press releases.
