CC stations in Montgomery to be sold

I forsee anyone buying a CC Montgomery station to take it in a more urban direction.

Uh, I believe all 3 of their stations are now urban (WZHT: UC; WMCZ: UAC: WHLW: Black Gospel). How does one get anymore urban than that?

I'm already speaking with someone, that may have an interest in one of these stations, if this info is accurate.

Will Clear Channel sell these stations off seperately or together as a group? Just curious.

I could see someone buying, at least, one of these stations and keeping it Urban.

If Roscoe Miller wanted to expand his Montgomery station(s), this would be a great opportunity for him and he would have a full powered FM, in Montgomery.

Jeez Paul.....I think I would be a little familiar with the CC stns in MGY before making such a comment....I don't think you can take them much more in that direction...have you ever listened to HOT105 before? (or the other 2?)

Roscoe probably could not come up with the bucks for even one of those properties. Holiday and Eubanks could; they are now worth half what they sold them to CC for.

I hope someone will buy these station(s) and bring some excitment to this market.  We could sure use it.

[EDIT] Maybe I'm wrong, so what>?

I personally think the market could use some better urban competition.

[EDIT-vulgarity]

I know it hasn't been forgotten but in case it has, WJAM 107.9 FM, Orrville/Selma, is upgrading and moving into Montgomery.  Once they move, then they'll probably stay with their current Urban format but skew it towards a younger demo.

If CC does sell off their three stations, we may be getting some new formats, on 97.1, 104.3 and 105.7.

Only time will tell.

I heard that one group who's looking at CC Montgomery stations is looking at Black Talk, a Hip Hop format that features the best of Today and Days Gone By and an Urban based soft jazz format and that the a number might be in the name of the group......

Yeah, but since the stations in question ARE the urban stations, flipping any of them would mean less competition.

If anything somebody needs to save Hot 105. That station has been spirally out of control since last year. I knew that station was in trouble when it dropped JoJo McToy in favor that atrocious SHMS. Magic has some purpose in the market, but not as Hot's sister station.

Hot 105 has seen its better days. Wish Ron Eubanks would return and save that sinking ship. He had a station that was working, very well.

They was catering to many different styles of Urban and R&B music, when he was at the helm.

Maybe he'll return to Hot and get things going again.

Only time will tell.

I doubt he has the cash to buy any one of them, and that's probably a good thing. Miller is still running that "Lookin' Good" spot that "J.C." (former morning show host on WKXN/WKXK & WBFZ) recorded from several years ago...when he actually still worked there.

The processing on 96.7 sounds like mono AM, and the overall production you hear on both 96.7 & 95.9 is subpar. Nothing good would come from Miller owning any of CC-Montgomery's stations.

I sorta agree with that, but when Roscoe's 2 translators were on the air.. he constantly got in the Top 10 of the ARBS, with 2 TEN WATT signals.

It maybe subpar, but people are listening!!
