CC suspending all AM HD? and Citadel ordered all AM IBOC to shut down?

Just viewed on YouTube a video of wctc am stereo, after hearing am stereo for the first time I couldn't believe how good it sounded. Why didn't am broadcasters fight to keep this? It also didn't cause any annoying interfearance like iboc does today.

I wondered what happened too, I had an AM stereo radio in an 88 Plymouth, the thing sounded great, got stereo reception for hundreds of miles at night and the sound was excellent.

Would shutting down the HD also put more power into the analog signal?

In a word, no.

If you can get rid of the modulation limitation at -94% to insure there is "Never" carrier pinch-off,
then I would argue that while the actaul RF power does not go up, the perceived power difference is very noticable.

I listen to CFCO in AM Stereo in my 2001 Chrysler driving home, and it sounds damn nice (& 80 miles away), and better than the Detroit FM's 60 miles away!
