CC to axe REAL real oldies in Chicago

I wish there was a privately own radio station like WJJG AM-1530, own and operated by Joe Gentile but as a private oldies station that is NOT with the Abitron ratings.

Abitron Ratings will always to do their best to kill off any oldies that are with any franchise company just like Clear Channel, ABC, CBS, and so forth.

I wish there was a private own radio station in Chicago that plays real oldies, but nobody hasn't thought of it yet....

No but there are hundreds of "private" or "hobby" Oldies stations online. To start, check out Live365.com.

Arbitron does not care about formats. In fact, the purpose of the ratings is to allow radio advertising to be priced by delivery, and nothing else.

For what its worth..you take what you get....Live 365 and all the other little guy webcasters out there can be of some consolation to many of us who consider the now jockless audiostream at http://www.realoldies1690.com a joke and CC will eventually take that down due to "lack of interest."

Still,if anything saves first generation rock n' roll..it will be the internet..."Rock-It-Radio" at http://www.rockitradio.net in Ventura,CA has been doing it for a number of years now along with http://www.flamingoldies.com...For the 60s and 70s crowd of the early Motown,Memphis Soul and funk era there's England's VIP radio at http://www.vipradio.net as the "northern soul" revival soulfully rocks the U.K as does BBC Radio Stoke's Mary Fox and her Friday evening classic Motown program worth listening to at http://www.bbc.co.uk/stoke/music/northernsoul/index.shtml

For us 60s/early 70s geeks(myself included)there's Joe Madigan's "Retro Radio" on Cleveland college station WJCU-FM at http://www.wjcu.org He is inspired by the classic Top 40 stations of that era including CKLW and "WIXY-1260." a great young talent so listen to him online while you can..he's in his last year at John Carroll University. http://www.retroradiotop40.com

Sounds great. But how do I hook up my computer in the car? Right now XM satellite radio is doing a great job of saving first generation rock & roll.
