CC TRAFFIC LAYOFFS ARE NATIONWIDE

I'm just surprised this hasn't happened sooner. They've been trying to do it in Austin for years. Local management held them off for awhile. With the removal of Mac Daniels, the last barrier was removed.

So who's out in Austin? Who's out in San Antonio?

Don Miller, Kevin McAdams, and Anne Hudson (who was retained by CC for nights on KASE 101).
I'm told that Austin traffic reporting will now be handled out of Dallas. Can't tell you anything about San Antonio.

Traffic reports on the radio are becoming a joke lately. I've been in "slow downs" areas that have little traffic.. and gridlock traffic that doesn't get mentions.

I hear that if the Dallas plan doesn't work and no one takes that high-paying mobile job, traffic reports will then be made from a pay phone at strategically-placed 7/11 stores in the area.

Assuming you could find one of the few remaining payphones, you'd still need a quarter (or fifty cents? Or a dollar? I have no idea what it costs these days. Haven't used one in over a decade.) which would require a budget. It would also require someone on the other end to answer the call.

LMFAO! Why don't they just use cell phones, if what you're saying is not a joke?

On the CC stations in Houston, the sponsor billboards and the plug for the iPhone app take longer than the actual traffic report. Sneeze and you miss it.

Unreal. The lengthy post under the KVET thread tells the story from an underpaid, over worked man that loved radio.

Can Clear Channel be stopped from ruining this business?
