CC Weather back w/Ch. 8

I noticed on 970 earlier this week that they had a weather forecast in their top-of-the-hour newscast from a NewsChannel 8 meteorologist instead of one from Fox 13. I know CC used Ch. 8's "Storm Team" for many years until a few years back when they switched to Fox. Any idea why they switched back to Ch. 8 for weather?

It began on Monday. I really prefer most of the FOX 13 crew, including the weather staff.

I also heard -- a few days ago, forget the client (something financial advice I suppose) -- a spot where the tag on the V/O mentioned tuning into their show on WGUL.com. I thought it odd 'FLA wouldn't have required the spot to be re-cut instead of allowing mention a Salem Comms website on a CC station.

Joe Pippen, Frank Wuco, and "Tax Free Retirement with the Maggi's" all came to WFLA from WGUL. Joe still hosts one of his shows on WGUL as well as several other stations state-wide... I'm guessing if you heard a WGUL tag slip through, it might have been aired on one of these shows...

A lot of times before jumping ship, our brokered hosts would nonchalantly ask for a disc with all of their show elements and commercial spots with the intent of using them at their new station... maybe that's what happened here?

That's probably exactly what it is. Fox13 is probably gonna be contractually required to say "Accuweather" forecast or something to that effect and 970 WFLA can't clear it. Good guess!

There might also be a little more to it. Fox and WFLA joined forces when the Fox brand was growing like mad. There's also reports that CC is going to start its own news service and drop AP, which might lead to further changes....or might not. Not making any predictions here, just playing connect the dots.

Start their own news service? They've been spending years DISMANTLING their news services all over the country!
