CCM Stations carrying TYAMS

Would a CCM station have the cojones to carry the Yolanda Adams Morning Show?

Having never heard of her, let alone listened to her show....tell me, what is on that show that you would think a
CCM station would take exception to?

She is a mainstream Gospel artist. Her show is based out of Houston on Praise 92.1. I think she is distributed by Radio One.

I really didn't know she had a morning show. Is it mostly Urban Gospel, CCM, or a mix?

Black gospel mostly. But most of today's gospel artists are kinda crossing over right?

I'm not familiar with her show. But it seems it would be a better fit for an urban gospel/black gospel formatted radio station.

I know I have heard her music on one of the Salem music channels while I am working my shift.

Crossing into mainstream Urban AC... definitely. Into CCM radio... not so much. A handful of CCM stations play some R&B-leaning Gospel singles, and there are a few full-on CCM/Gospel hybrids. But for the most part, CCM radio won't even touch African-American artists, unless it's someone like Michael Tait or Mandisa whose careers have been more based in CCM, or a huge pop crossover single like "Shackles."

As for the Yolanda Adams Morning Show... I am familiar with her show and often enjoy listening to it. However, I don't really see it playing out on CCM radio, outside of maybe the CCM/Gospel hybrids. At least not in its current form.

It's not so much a thing of CCM stations having the "cajones" to air it, but more that it's simply not in the format for CCM radio. The music is straight-up Gospel, mostly choir-based. Of course that could be easily resolved by having a customized version for CCM stations. Even with that, though, some of the regular segments (such as Marcus D. Wiley's "Sanctified Sermon Topics") might not play out well with the suburban soccer moms that CCM stations tend to target.

Although I'd love to hear Wiley take on some styles of music besides Gospel and Urban AC in his "Under the Microscope" segment. When Wiley is at his best, that segment is gold. :D
