Guess what? I just bought this radio. So far, on AM, it has the best sensitivity I've seen on a portable radio. But it does overload on very strong signals, as expected after reading the consumer reviews on Ccrane and eham sites. A local station on the upper portion of the AM band (on 1460) about 3 miles away does cause havoc on the band around this station. To reduce the problem, I just orient the radio so one end of the ferrite loopstick points to the station's group of towers and adjust the fine tuning control to minimize the interference. The CCradio-EP's ferrite bar antenna is about 8 inches long and has 4 coils on it, according what I've seen on the radiointel website.
The EP's FM is great; I can pick up distant FMs well, its selectivity is better than average but not quite as good as the Tecsun DSP radios'. The dial illumination that can be switched on or off is a great idea IMO. There's no memory presets or menus to go through and I liked that. What surprised me is that there is no "image" 910 or 900 below the very local station's actual AM frequency.
