CC's WDSJ Greenville switches formats again

Clear Channel clone WDSJ (former Smooth Jazz, then country as "The Bull" licensed to Greenville) switches formats again..this time to late 60s/early 70s oldies as "Big 106.5"....heard some "generic" personalities between every other song or so but suspect it's another sat feed in the Oregon District broom closet.

(see "Next Station to Flip" on Cincy boards)

Heard "Marty With The Party" announce all the titles after a three or four song set...then a seg into a spot break followed by another un-named voice with a "now back to the music" liner afterwards...no jingles.

I think it's a "Premium Choice" feed. Music and generic VT's preloaded from a central location. It sounds a lot like satellite but without the "magic call" drop-ins or the 4:00 or 3:30 song edits to fill optional breaks.

I knew a third country station in Dayton wouldn't make it. They flipped it after only 10 months...wow. Looks like "The Bull" turned out to be nothing but "$---" for CC/Dayton. They might as well have left it Smooth Jazz.

I never quite understood the flip back to country in the first place. Buckeye Country was a flop the first time around.

Smooth jazz seems to be the only format that works with 106.5 in the Dayton market, but since Dayton has been without a commercial oldies station for so long, this format may work out for them...despite the fact that its on premium choice.

They should have tried Rhythmic AC - but I doubt they have a Premium Choice for that. All the new Rhythmic AC Clear Channel has been launching has been in a fairly big market or ran local. Jingles, jocks, the whole nine. CC wouldn't spend that money here.

CC doesn't like spending money...period...with one exception

RUSH der fuhrer (with Glenn Bicker in a NAZI uniform on the cover of his current book.)

For it being a Clear Channel station I would like to hear Little Walter's Time Machine once again..the complete three hour show.

In 2003-04 "Real Oldies WSAI" only aired an hour of it nightly from 11 to midnight but WRLL Chicago used to air the whole enchilada on Sunday evenings..used to listen to it online.
WULM (when owned by Urban Light) also aired the entire three hour show on Sunday afternoons all to breifly.

I know Walter had to step down from producing the show a few years back due to health issues but I think CC now owns the rights to that show so it would be a treat to hear it again as a weekend feature along with The Best of Wolfman Jack.

May as well enjoy it before 106.5 switches formats again or they finally decide to sell it.

If they sellit, probably go to emf and become more klove. I know you all love the pay to pray non local guilt ya into handing over your money so they can stay on the air stations :) I will say this is a great white guy format:)

It would make a great affiliate for Air1. ;)

Being from the Richmond area, I'd personally like to hear a simulcast of Channel 945 on 106.5 since no CHR can no longer be heard there, but at least CC is filling a hole in the market instead of trying to flank the other guys.
