CD Players for On-Air and Production Studios?

Thanks for the info. Yes, the wait for the Tascam CD-160MKIII is unbelieveable! We are looking at the Denon DNC615. Any experience with these?

Thanks!

Looking back on some of the previous posts, regarding remote starts on cheapie consumer CD players, is there any reason the use of a high-quality shielded cable would not prevent the noise problem?

It might help some. It won't do any good for a static smack to the console from the operator's finger, it will simply transmit the surge directly into the CD player without the intrusion of any outside noise. I'd stick a rely in it (I >do< stick one in it when I modify cheapies).

The Denon Cart style CD players last forever, but cost the world.

true on both points! Unfortunately the good ol 'CD Carts' aren't even an option anymore, nor is even the tray load model- they were discontinued fairly recently by Denon.

Neither is truly as ideal as the 'CD Carts' because they expose the disk itself to being handled, but I've used these two units with good results (and all the needed functionality- cue to audio, GPI/GPO, etc):
