CDs from Audition 1.5?

Does anyone here have experience burning to CD from Audition 1.5? I have a bunch of imaging in a multi-track file that I want to burn to CD as separate tracks, but when I follow the directions to make the disc, it makes everything one large track. Clearly I'm doing something wrong (stunner!)...anyone have an idea what I'm screwing up?

Thanks.

Go from the Multi Track view to CD view, and drag each track over seperately. This should make the CD the way you want it.
______________

I should have been more clear in my original post. The imaging isn't in separate files; it's in one large sound file that I've segmented in the multi-track. According to the Audition documentation, I should be able to make each segment of the large file into separate tracks on the CD, but it ain't so much working.

Try this...use the Copy New command for each section you want to make a new track. Then when you are done with that, go to the CD View and drag them over. Use Track Properties to rename them. This way you will have the seperete tracks that you want.
______________

Yeah, I thought of that too, but Adobe says it's possible to make a CD with separate tracks from one file. It would save me a ridiculous amount of time...anyone have a clue how is it done?

Maybe I'm misunderstand your whole post, but if it's to backup the stuff you're working on, wouldn't making a data CD make more sense? Then you could just drag the files (including the session file) back into Audition without having to open up each file again.

Am I missing the boat here? I don't know why you'd want to save each track's audio individually. If it already saves it as one long file, just splice it up and move it around in multi track mode. Or make a data CD and save the session there.

I don't know if that helps or not.

I think what he wants to do is load a complete audio file in to the CD buring section of Audition and place track numbers at various points throughout the file.

For example:

You record a 60 minute live beatmixed DJ "mix show" consisting of 8 different songs from a DJ mixer through the computer sound card and into the soundfile view of AA. You clean the mix up, compress/limit it, and now you want to burn your mix to CD. You then drag the entire mix in to the CD burning screen as one complete track. What the orig poster wants to do is insert individual track numbers for each of his 8 songs in his mix so that each track can be accessed on a consumer CD player.

I think that's along the lines of what the original poster wants to do.

The feature you want to use is create "CUES", it's not hard at all to set up,
but it does sound confusing to explain. I have done this many time and it works well. Let me know if you need the info and I will post it in the next day or so.
The help file in Audition doesn't explain how to use the CUES very well.

Ok - this might help. You'll have to set up cues in your mixdown before burning.

Track Cues lets you indicate a split in tracks for an audio compact disc. Use these cues only for burning CDs.

To insert a track:

Do one of the following:

* In Edit View, open a file. To insert the entire file, make sure that no audio is selected; to insert part of a file, select the desired range. Then choose Edit > Insert In CD Project.
* In Multitrack View, open a session file, and choose Edit > Mix Down To CD Project. If the session includes track cues, each cue range is inserted into the track list as a separate track.

I've tried using Cues via F8, and it didn't work. Would you mind explaining how you do it? Thanks!
______________

Here's the Info, I hope you understand what I wrote... Sometimes the mind wanders late at night. If you need further explanation of steps just ask, wont be a problem.

F8 didn’t work for me either, plus I don’t use shortcuts in Adobe Audition, I like going through the steps and ensure I have done what I wanted to achieve.

In the main window of Audition with the file open, highlight the area of what you would like to be the first track. What I do before I start the process is to trim the head and tail of the track, I add 1/4 of a second of silence, but that’s me. Now with the area selected move your mouse to the bottom of the file where you see the yellow arrow, when you move the mouse over it, it will change to a hand icon, when this happens right click it and a menu appears with various actions, select “Insert into Cue List”. What you have now done was insert the file information with a beginning and an end point into the cue list.
After I have created my first track I like to move my cursor via the transport back to the start of the file. When you do this you will notice that under the yellow arrow there is a “blue triangle”! This is the icon for the end of a track, now via the transport again move the cursor to the end point of the track you just created, you will notice this is a “red triangle” and along side it on the top bar it says “CUE 01".
After you have moved your cursor to the end of the first track you created, highlight the are you would like to be track 2. You can do this by holding down the shift key and left click on the screen where you would like the end of the track to be. Now move the mouse over the yellow arrow and right click and select Insert into Cue List. Repeat the steps till you have created all the tracks needed.
Now open up the cue list widow (under Window on menu bar). You will notice that it gives begin, end and length time as well as type of cue. Highlight each cue and change basic cue to track, this is done on the lower portion of the cue list window. You can also preview the audio using autoplay, when you highlight a track it plays.
After you are done with the cue list window, close it.
Now it’s time to send the information to the CD view window. Click on the CD View Window icon, it’s the icon that looks like a CD. You will notice your track is in the window on the left, but also has a + next to the track name. Click on the + once and you will see the tracks information appear.
Highlight each track separately ( right click) and select Insert into CD project. You can do all at once, but you will have to make sure the order is correct, by doing each one at a time you wont have to double check the order.
Now it’s time to create the CD, bottom left you will see the “write cd” button. Push it and follow the menus, you will have a CD that was a continuous file, but now has individual tracks, great for live shows from the radio.

Thanks, that's the best explanation I've ever gotten. I printed it out and will try it when the need arises!
______________

I used to make mix cds with tracks all the time in Cool Edit but haven't been able to to do it yet in Audition! I'll try those tips too. I haven't read it thoroughly so I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but I'll get back when I do.
______________
