CELL PHONES RINGING ON THE AIR

It just happened again.

Tom Bauerle had a really strong monologue interrupted by a personal call on his cell phone.

It happens to Kathy Weppner all the time during her Saturday afternoon show on WBEN.

Frankly, I'm stunned that Wenger and Reid don't DEMAND that all cell phones either be on vibrate mode or completely turned off.

Or how about NO PHONES IN THE STUDIO !!!

Does this happen on other local stations? I'm talking any on-air talent for AM or FM.

It's frustrating to hear as a listener. Today's incident totally threw Tom off and you could basically hear him asking himself "who was this that called me?" He actually said on the air that during the next commercial break he was going to call the number back and blast whoever it was that called him.

Entercom Buffalo needs to get it together and makes sure simple miscues like that don't happen ever again. It's common sense... and common courtesy to have the phone off or on vibrate.

Thats what happens when you have a "broadcaster" named Kathy from Williamsville. That bigoted woman has no business being on a radio show as a caller, let alone anchoring any amount of time on a broadcast station. Her existence alone takes clout away from WBEN in my opinion.

Yeah, like it's the caller's fault because the talent didn't turn off his or her phone. That's the kind of thing that should happen to you ONCE - maybe.

I'm surprised it happened to Bauerle. You would expect him to know better.

As far as Kathy from Williamsville.....
She's just a comedy of errors, both factually and technically. She is the epitome of what's wrong with today's talk radio. All because this yahoo has a niche following, she's allowed to fill the air with the most ignorant and inaccurate nonsense. She apparently has free reign.

I don't blame her as much as management. You would hope they would have more integrity than to put her on.

Wenger is on the case. A very strict NO PHONES ON WHEN IN THE STUDIO policy to be implemented very soon for WBEN, WGR and the sister stations on the AM and FM dial.

Listen for Bauerle to poke fun at it soon, especially once Kevin Carr is done typing up the notice for all of the on-air studios on yellow paper with big bold black lettering.

I will be out of town this weekend. Monitor Kathy's show.

20 bucks to whoever makes her phone ring within the first 15 minutes of her show!

Insider told me that a year or so ago, some caller reeled her in for about a minute before calling her a c*nt. And no, it wasn't bleeped. Apparently, after years on the air there, she still doesn't know what any of those confusing buttons do...lol.
