Celtics Broadcast

I probably complained about this last year. I can't stand the ESPN/TV announcers for the Celtics playoff run. Is there any way that WEEI could synch up with TV? They don't have to be perfect just as long as the radio isn't ahead of the TV. Hearing something a couple of seconds before you see it is just weird, but if you hear it a couple of seconds behind, it's okay(at least to me). I think they could score some even bigger ratings than they're probably getting. I'm on mute for most of the game. Mike Breen should go back to being Imus' flash boy.

they might be able to sync up with a TV broadcast, but once it hits a cable system the delays are unpredictable and uncontrollable if you think of how many head ends are involved

My TV without the cable box is ahead of my other TV with the cable box.

there is signal buffering and processing in the cable box, I have the same problem when my wife is watching something on the analog feed from Comcrap out in the three season room, and I have the same thing on in HD here through the box. I have to switch inputs and watch the analog on the HDTV otherwise I go nuts with the delay. THe TV's are about 10 feet apart.

If WEEI is behind (and not ahead), all you have to do is time shift your live TV using a DVR (TiVo, cable company box, etc.). Just pause ESPN for a few seconds to manually sync it up. If WEEI is AHEAD of the TV, then you're kinda screwed. Unless you somehow can timeshift WEEI... maybe listen to 'EEI online to create more of a delay.

The ESPN announcers suck. They are as biased as the refs were during that series. With that said, I wish I could follow the old WBCN/Patriots quote of "Turn your TV Down, and your radio up". It would be better to hear the WEEI commentary than those clowns on ESPN who obviously are against the Boston teams for whatever reason.

pretty sure Celts/NBA, like Sox/MLB, can't be streamed online (Some people on the WEEI facebook group were
wondering why they were hearing ESPN radio instead of the Big Show one day...I informed them that the Sox
had a weekday day game on WEEI, and since they couldn't stream it they had ESPN instead)...
And of course if you have HD you can get WEEI on WMKK-HD 3 incl. games...delayed of course. I had
the Insignia portable and went back and forth between the WEEI on HD, and WBOQ with the reg feed.
Delay!

Agreed with most of the above, it's almost impossible to figure out what each listeners delay may be.

We have 2 TVs, and before we had a DVR on the bedroom TV it was about 4-5 seconds ahead of the main TV.

Now that both boxes have built in DVRs, they are close, but still off about a second, even though they are the same service, same features (both HD, both DVR, etc).

So even with the same exact carrier/features/etc they are off.

I've been in sports bars that have multiple carriers (comcast for all the small screens, Direct TV for the big screen kinda thing) where if they have them all on the same channel you'll see they are off a second or two.

So they are all gonna be off somewhat, depending on if you have cable or fios or satellite, and then depending on if you have HD, DVR, TiVo, etc etc etc.

Best option is what someone said above is use your DVR to pause the broadcast for a couple min at the beginning and then catch up to the radio broadcast once the game starts.

They are the NY Knicks alumni association. That's the reason. A player, a coach, and an announcer. Breen is the worst of the three as far as being biased. One of the things that make them so bad is all of the inside jokes and stupid reminisences about the good old days with the Knicks(where, by the way, they never won anything).

I don't have a TIVO, so I guess I'm out of luck.

Dare I say, but I have a new-found respect for Van Gundy since this run started; I think he's funny and knowledgeable. Jackson is no less or more appealing than any other former player and Breen annoys me. I can't believe these words as I type them but rapking has it right...QUACK, QUACK, QUACK!
