Celts chip away from Howie show?

Saw reference somewhere (one of the papers or online) that while the Celtics
agreed to move their games to 7:30 pm from 7 pm, allowing WRKO to put in a pre-game show without taking any airtime away from Howie, there would be times
when Howie's show might be shortened. Tonight could be one of those times--
game is at Cleveland and starts at 7; WEEI said the game would be on "AM 680,
coverage starts at 6:30 pm". If that's the case maybe they'll run best-of-
Howie segments on the other Howie affiliates? (Down to 10 now, I think, with the loss of that Laconia station...)

Is that me (raccoonradio) on Howie's head?

Nothing new. They did that to Jerry Williams in the early 80's to cover spring training and early season Red Sox games.

I thought the 6-7 hour was not syndicated. I know WTPL(Hillsboro-Concord, NH) has never carried that hour. It has either run a local sports show or currently runs a simulcast of WMUR News 9 and maybe a local sports call-in show at 6:30.

I would imagine it would get the host upset; but Howie just isn't holding
people's interest these days. They really need to reinvent that show.

If they are winning by default - and with Jay Severin not breathing down
his neck, maybe they just don't care to make upgrades?

I originally thought the same, but there are two or three stations clearing him 3-7. Maybe Superadio feeds the first hour again.

The non-New England affils seem to have dropped off; I thought there was on in Nebraska or Kansas. Why WRKO would want to share a PMD show with nationwide affiliates was always a mystery to me. Their share of show revenues coming in from Keene can't be that great.
______________

6-7 pm is the "Massachusetts" or "Local" hour; hence the Mumbles and Wizard of Uhs segments. To my knowledge, it is only cleared on WRKO, WHYN Springfield and WXTK Cape Cod.

I thought there was a station up in Maine that also carried the 6 o'clock hour. Presque Isle or Portland?
______________

It's syndicated in Mass. and Maine (WEIM, WHYN, WXTK-FM, WVOM, WGAN?)
(that is, Mass. and ME stations carry that hour)_

Tonight Howie said he would continue (new stuff not best of) on the "other"
stations but 'RKO was going to Celtics at 6:30; same tomorrow night.

Oh, I mentioned that awhile back. He's stuck to New England and even then
lost some stations like the one in Laconia, NH, which is now doing tourist info.
He _briefly_ was on in Willimantic, CT

I still like it; I also like Laura Ingraham who I think is doing a really good
job (her guests tonight included Byron York from National Review; a member
of Code Pink (anti-war group), and Cong. J.D. Hayworth of Arizona. Entertaining.

...Photographic Proof!....

...that Howie WAS the thief who absconded with Pat Whitley's spare toupe out of THE tawk station studios! ;)
