Central NJ doesn't like Jack

Summer 2005 Part 1 Arbitrends for Middlesex/Somerset/Union are out today... WCBS-FM has lost 0.6, the biggest drop of any station on the chart. So where did those listeners go? Apparently not to WLTW like many people expected; WLTW also dropped by 0.2. However, some stations which likely did benefit from the loss of CBS-FM include:

98.3 WMGQ..... +0.5
102.7 WNEW.... +0.5
95.5 WPLJ..... +0.4
107.1 WWZY.... +0.4
104.3 WAXQ.... +0.1

However, 1170/1250 WMTR didn't show as much immediate gain as we'd expect, only growing by +0.1 since the last ratings book. Meanwhile on the AM side, 710 WOR showed a healthy gain, enough to put them ahead of 770 WABC for the first time in ages. And once again, the folks at tiny, underequipped 250-watt 1070 WKMB repeated their amazing feat of delivering ratings equal to that of Nassau's CHR/Pop powerhouse WPST.

Jack will not work well in and around the NY market. I.M.O.

Your opinion and prediction, but we still got to give it a chance. Maybe a reason why CBS FM isn't doing well is because of the station Jack replaced.<P ID="signature">______________

I live in Monmouth Co almost near the Middlesex border, and Jack 101.1FM never comes in well enough to listen for more than three seconds. I think it's mixing with B101 out of Philadelphia. So the ratings could be down around these parts because the station just never comes in clearly.<P ID="signature">______________

I wonder if WOGL will start making a small showing in the Middlesex book like WXTU doues from time to time.

It's true--in northern Middlesex even, CBS-FM always would have quite a bit of static, and if I could catch what was coming through the static, it would be B-101. Now it's a pleasure to listen to Lite-FM. Can anyone ask for a better, cripser signal?
