CENTRAL OHIO... THE BLITZ IS BACK!

If you heard Zeppelin, Ozzy, Sabbath, Def Lep, and AC/DC in the same hour, you aren't listening to the same Blitz I am listening to. Two Zeppelin songs back to back??? If you are telling the truth, that clearly had to be a mistake. I have been listening pretty regularly since they switched back and I have only heard 2 Zep songs total since last Thursday. I definitely hear a lot more current music and a lot harder music that they had stopped playing. I don't mind so much Metallica, in fact I like it. I just wish they would play some stuff from their latest album.

On another note, when did "they call it" a format flip?

And did you ever think that maybe Hal is still around because he was forced into the change to the Rock? He went through all of this during the town hall meeting. I think if there is someone to blame, it is the consulting group they used that told them to do what they did. It sounds to me like Hal was forced to manage someone else's mistake.

Maybe Hal actually got threatened to get ratings up or he'd be out.
If that's the way things worked at Nabco, Hal would've been canned eons ago, maybe even back when they were classic rock Magic 99.7, pre-original-Blitz. In fact, at a normal station operator in a normal market that's what would have happened, long ago. But this is Columbus, Nabco. He's been there 22 years now.

So here's a question:

Will Clear Channel put up a fight with 106 as an Active/Alternative?
Is there, now, more money in reverting back to the Pop/Alternative hybrid niche they were before (like their more successful sister Radio 104.5 in Philly)?
Or do they move something else there?
One of CC's Columbus frequencies should try the "Gen X Radio" format. 106.7 or 105.7 would be a good fit for this format.

Agreed, but we both know that's not gonna happen.

I checked their playlist and saw it in either the 10AM or 11AM hour.
Today I saw this ACDC You Shook me all night at 3:16Am, VH Eruption 4:33 AM, VH You really got me 4:35 AM, Holy Diver 5:15 AM.

Sounds like the same music to me.

Gen X Radio would be a wise move for 105.7 since that signal changes formats quite frequently...but Nu, you're right...I know CC/Columbus wouldn't make such a move. It'd be too forward-thinking for a Columbus radio station, and we know that ANYTHING new on the radio Columbus wouldn't touch until it was the LAST radio market to get it. ;D

The two Zeppelin songs he may have heard, were probably Heartbreaker and Living Loving Maid. Most stations play those two back to back anyway. It's kind of Sack Religious to do that with those songs.

So, they played one classic rock song in the 3am hour, one classic rock song in the 4am hour (btw, "Eruption/You Really Got Me" is basically one song. To play "Eruption" and then cut it off would be ridiculous, because it acts as the intro to "You Really Got Me", and rock stations that play "You Really Got Me" never play it without playing "Eruption" first. You probably just aren't familiar with Van Halen songs. They have some really awesome songs. I bet you'd like them.) and then one classic rock song in the 5am hour. Sounds to me like they're only playing one classic rock song per hour.

What is the difference in the music from the Old Blitz and the New Blitz? Also, do you see an increase in the rating vs the old previous Rock format? Will the new Blitz ever reach the ratings success of the old Blitz? Will this be the last time NABCO ever tinkers with the Rock format on 99.7? It seems as though 99.7 will always be a Rock format as long as Mr. Hal Fish has anything to say about it.

Once you sink as low as they have on a good signal like that, you're likely to rise somewhat just by default. It's called regression to the mean. Also, the Blitz may not be quite as bad as the Rock was.

No, although they might come closer if Howard Stern somehow comes back.

No.

99.7 will switch to a non-Rock format when Rush Limbaugh becomes a card-carrying Democrat.
