Central PA?

Originally from State College. Worked at WGMR and WXLR from '81 to '84. How is State College not part of a "Central Pennsylvania" thread? Has my geography warped in the near 30 years since I've lived there?

No, I believe your geography is fine. Politically speaking, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has done some "redistricting" in the past years. State College is now part of the Pottstown metro area.

The great line of demarcation is at the Clark's Ferry Truck Stop on 322 near Duncannon. All points north along the susquehanna, including Selinsgrove, Lewisburg, etc are part of S/WB. Everything north of the Juniata River, west of the Susquehanna is part of Altoona-State College. Just my theory.

I grew up in SC and lived there until '84. During that time, I don't think I knew of anyone speaking about the "Altoona-State College" area. It got about as far as "State College-Bellefonte" and that was about it.
