Central/S. America & Caribbean AM DX targets?

I'm looking for suggestions on Central American, South American, and eastern Caribbean AM DX targets to try for from south central TX.

I've received Mexico stations from as far as Tabasco (XEKV and XETVH in Villahermosa) but have never knowingly received anything from Central or South America. From the Caribbean I've logged Cuba (Rebelde, Reloj, Enciclopedia), Anguilla (Caribbean Beacon), and Puerto Rico (WGIT), but that's it.

Right now I'm strictly using portables - RF-2200, CC-2E, PL-390, etc. - with a Terk loop. What are some stations I could expect to hear from those regions as fall arrives?

Many thanks.

You could try for a Colombian AM station in the Caracol network. Their SW stations used to ID with the "Caracol" slogan, making them easier to ID than others.

If the MW outlets still ID that way, it could make them a little easier to catch.

Jim.

I know you have a local on 810 & 760, but if the conditions are right, I would think you have the opportunity to receive 800/Bonaire.

Do you belong to the National Radio Club, or IRCA? They both have international sections that feature Central/South/Caribbean loggings, though the most prolific poster (with some sophisticated receivers and antennas) is located in MA.

Not sure if these stations still exist, Jim, but back in the 60's and into the mid 70's there used to be a nice bunch of stations from that way on frequencies that ended with a '5'.

A few that come to mind are ZBM1 Bermuda on 1235, Radio Paradise on 1265, TIOS from Costa Rica plus Radio Paradise on 825, and -- of all things -- TIW 775 from Costa Rica. That last was when local WABC was * on the air *. I don't remember making a pact with the devil to get that null. so it must've been a frightful Aurora that night.
And that Lafayette HA could COOK.

Those were the days, Steve, though I think modern receivers have silenced them all. More off topic, thanks to my being able to null WGY, the one S.A. station I could occasionally receive, was 200 KW 810/R. Sutatenza in Columbia.

Thanks, guys. Those are some good starting points, and I'll be checking out the IRCA and NRC. Also, I'll have to look up the Colombia Caracol stations as well as Bermuda and Costa Rica. I think Bonaire's going to be difficult because XEROK in Juárez comes blasting in here with 50 kW every night.
