If the call letters are anything to go by, perhaps CFJL will stand out like a jewel on the Winnipeg radio dial.

The call letters were selected a long time ago.
They used to have this station listed as "Coming soon" on the Jewel FM website.
With their purchase of Newcap Winnipeg, I'm strictly guessing that may change things.

Also, according to Digital home, it looks like it might not be a Jewel FM...at least not a "Standards" Jewel...will they even target 45 plus?

I can't see it becomming AC. The existing AC "CLEAR FM" (CKY 102.3) isn't exactly a sensation in the Winnipeg BBM's. I'm thinking more along the lines of CHR to siphon off some of those huge numbers that HOT 103 pulls in, or maybe Alternative Rock (a format lacking in the market).

With Evanov's planned purchase of CHNK 100.7 (a station operating under a specialty license) they could probably fit that original "Jewel" proposal quite nicely on that facility without straying too far from the specialty format guidelines.
