CFLZ - Niagara Falls

Well, you COULD hop a flight here and hear it (or not) for yourself...

Considering it's not what it was originally licenced for.

It hasn't been tourist information for the immediate tourist trap area of Niagara falls for quite some time.
(that moved to the am sister station. CJRN 710)

If they did boost their power to serve more people, all the power to them!

The main thing to keep on mind though, is that people are only going to travel so far to shop and respond to the "local" ads.

You can have more listeners, but what good are they if they don't react to the ads they hear, or if they believe the business advertised is too far away to meet their needs?

It's up to a 15 kW ERP facility with 127 meter HAAT, directional antenna and a main signal lobe pointed across the river at Niagara Falls and Buffalo, NY (although they don't seem to be trying for a lot of cross-border ads or listeners the way 101.1 does).

101.1 targets late teens and twenty somethings.

Going after the 19-20 year old is the smartest thing they could do.
It reminds the 19 yr. old in Western New York that they don't have to wait until they turn 21 to drink, since the legal drinking age is 19 in Canada...running ads for bars and Clubs on the Canadian side sounds smart to me!

As for 105.1, they'd most likely target the Star 102 crowd...not a good idea.
Better to stay local.
