Why was Vince DeMentri fired?
It said in the article:
"I feel awful for them. This is an extremely tough business. I've been fired [from New York's WCBS in '02] and I know it's not a pleasant situation."

I gotta wonder if NBC should just outright buy WPHL from Tribune, for benefit to consolidate the market, and gain a duopoly. It's not like anything cutting edge or unique will ever from sportsless WPHL. It doesn't seem WPHL or Philly is a growth station/market for Tribune, anyways, nor does NBC want to buy out an indy and co-own Telemundo on it here, what's typical in other top markets.

Tribune could buy out one of NBC's smaller market stations in Birmingham, Columbus or Providence, to make the deal even. All of those markets are WB less, that Tribune could buy the Pax-owned station in one of those markets, in addition, to create a NBC/WB duopoly for stable growth.

My guess it would have something to do with impersonating a federal agent.

Um, no...the double duty reference in the thread title means they're adding an assignment, to do the WB news.

Well then where did Nertz get the idea that he was fired?

I think Nertz was talking about him getting fired from WCBS, where he impersonated a federal agent, among other things. That happened in 2002. I mentioned that in another post.<P ID="signature">______________
