CH. 161 "WSIX" DROPPING OFF XM AUG 18th

AllAccess.com has reported that as of August 18th, WSIX (Clear Channel's The BIG 98 Nashville) will be leaving XM 161. AllAccess speculates "with the current merger taken place between XM and SIRIUS, they may have more content than channel space. "

Sensing opportunity, can we finally be rid of any of the other Clear Channel stuff while we're at it? :)

WSIX is already gone...technicaly. What you're hearing there now isn't WSIX.

I would think other channels would have to go. I would think the ones that take up the most bandwidth. They have to have room for the sirius stuff we'll be paying extra for.

I have The Beatles in my "Tune Select" and it popped up as soon as I turned my car on today after work...very song on 161 on my way home today was Beatles....now I know why....sort of.

If XM Radio were to drop WSIX, which I HOPE NOT, could they add Country station WOBB(B100) in Albany, GA to their line-up.

Just a thought!

This morning channel 161 still has the WSIX channel name & logo. As of this morning, 161 was carrying programming from channel 11's Nashville" which I believe is a Clear Channel offering. What strikes me as odd, is the fact that the programming on 161 is about 1-2 minutes ahead of that on 11. Go figure.

Maybe the other Clear Channel channels , such as: Mashville (11), Kiss (21), Mix (22) & Sunny (24), will go as well. IMHO, good riddence.

With these gone, that would at least make room for a few Sirius programs.

Hey,

When I tuned to XM Radio Channel 161 today, they aired sweepers that said
"Country is moving to Channel 11." Could this mean that WSIX is relocating
there? Another country station is taking its place?

Any thoughts?

No and no. WSIX left the lineup after the Jerry House show last Friday (my approximate guess.) They made the announcement last Thursday evening near the end of Slam Dunkin's show. He said something like since the 2 companies have come to gether there isn't no room for us meaning WSIX. I would think that WLW would be going too.

I've noticed that the XM people are starting to do the promos for 158 and 165.

They have to make room for the paid sirius offerings. Even a hint that OnA may not have their own channel anymore.

why cant mel just get rid of the cc music stations ?

That's like saying why can't you throw tenants out of your building when they've agreed to a lease and have followed all the terms and conditions. As long as everything's nice and legal, they're at XM to stay. It surprises me, really, since CC is so divestment happy these days.
