CH 3 TV Broadcast Antenna question for the guru's

I need to recommend a suitable TV broadcast antenna and can only find a Log Periodic. My customer's currently using a Scala CL-24: http://www.kathrein-scala.com/catalog/CL-24.pdf LP antenna.

My experience with these Scala LP antennas are that the gain figures, certainly at band edges are exagerated!

His license allows: Max ERP on any hor' or ver' angle of 0.5Kw.
Major lob direction 315 degrees.
Height of radiation centre above ground: 20 metres.
Overall height of antenna structure above ground: 44 metres.

My question, what other types of broadcast antennas are available for this relatively low frequency?

Do they make monster panel antennas down here?

Thanks.

Phil

Re: CH 3 TV Broadcast Antenna

That antenna is broadband for Channels 2-4, so the peak gain across Channel 3 should be rather flat. Of course, the gain does fall off as you move off the boresite of the antenna, but that's true of all directional antennas.

You could ask Kathrein-Scala to send you more data about its pattern shape/gain across Channel 3, specifically. Probably it is quite uniform.

Any antenna on 3 is NOT going to be small....what is the pattern supposed to be (front to back, max to min signal, etc)?
I take it this will not be omni....for a LP? Depending on the pattern, you could use a yagi design for TV3 from several manufacturers.
