Anyone catch Feder the other day about this station turning into MYTV? He says that there will be 2 episodes of Talk shows of various kind from 9 to 5 and then soaps during primetime all week long. that is Such a waste of a station. I cant stand soaps and hate talk shows. I gues The Power has been put out on that station. Lets look at waste of stations in Chicago. Ch 50 which I just mentioned. Also ch 38 The I network which is all infomercials. and ch 62 wich is just filled with garbage. Does this stuff make money? I can't believe it does. Now wonder everyone goes to sat or cable.

Infomercials are a cash cow. How you ask?Simple they cost nothing to the station. Infomercials are long marketed by sales companies. They can tell by the response after the infomerical airs how long it last. Typically within a half hour they know whether to abandon the premise or continue promoting the product.Best of all TV stations don't need anyone to sell their time. The infomercial companies do this research. They KNOW which station to buy time on and when from their OWN research dont at their own expense. Thus the station doesn't need to sell. They don't need to buy product and best of all they get a portion of the sales the infomercial makes(this varies from market to market)And they save an additional employee because they don't have to have someone who knows marketing to pick and choose the programming as well

Why TV?

What is the premise of TV? To make money! At one time the key words were "Interests, convenience and necessity were the how all broadcasters were judged. I truly wonder how some of the programming today fills that need. Where is local amateur sports? Where is an outlet for local drama and music? With the elimination of the Fairness Doctrine in the 1980's and de-regulation in the 90's, TV (and radio) appears to be little more than money changers at the temple.
