Channel 55 and 61 for what cities? Also, aren't many of the channel 55 analog broadcasters slowly being phased out? That just happened to WLNY-TV (IND) channel 55 of Riverhead (Long Island) New York. They're only on their digital channel now.<P ID="signature">______________

what their intent is for these channels as yet. Depending on
one's tv they are viewable in a limited Chicagoland area.
They are only doing a test pattern now.

Channels 52 and up are being axed when the analog sunset occurs in Feb 2009. But, keep in mind two things... First, nearly 50% of the channels in use today will disappear, so even though approximately 25% of the TV spectrum is being chopped, there will be an overall effective gain of spectrum. LPTV stations on the air before sunset will have a shot at relocation to 2 through 51, although it is not a guarantee.

Second, under the present plan, there is no analog sunset for LPTV stations. It's very possible that these analogs could be positioning themselves for low-power analog carriage of individual high-power DTV subchannels. That's purely a guess at this point, but for an area with lots of analog TVs still in operation, there would be a decent ROI on an LPTV station in 2009.
