Chad Elliott, Zimmer Joplin GM, dies at 47

Chad Elliott, Zimmer Communications Joplin general manager, died suddenly and unexpectedly yesterday at the age of 47. He is survived by wife, Monica, and daughter, Mattie.

Chad began working for Zimmer in his early to mid 20’s in the programming department. He spent most of his career working for Zimmer, though he also worked for Max Media's Mississippi River Radio after Zimmer sold its Cape Girardeau and Carbondale stations in 2004. He returned to Zimmer and worked at its Joplin cluster, where he worked his way from programming to sales and, eventually, general manager.

I personally never worked with or for Chad, but I was at KTXY Columbia/Jefferson City, and he left his mark on the station long after he left. My thoughts and heart are with my friends at Zimmer Communications.

Chad Elliot's voice is prominent in the Weather Channel's documentary of the Joplin tornado as he was on the air during the event. 47 is way too young!
