Chairman Carr weighs whether to flag shows with trans or non-binary ‘programming’

Also Flip Wilson.
Geraldine Jones! I remember watching that, and I didn't turn out to be "trans."

Though one time I did dress in drag. It was Halloween in 1990(?) and the restaurant where I was a waiter (waiting for my radio career to take off) was having the staff dress up. I didn't have a costume, but my female co-workers came to the rescue. A blonde wig, skirt, hose, makeup, and new name tag completed my transformation into "Betty" for the night. They helped put on my makeup in the men's room. Yes, biological women were in the men's room!

It was a fun night, I played it to the hilt, and customers loved it. Nowadays someone at a city council meeting would be demanding that my co-workers and I be arrested for violating some "morality" clause or "endangering children."

We do indeed live in a stupid time.

Witch hunts... Red Scare... Satanic Panic... we seem to go through these every few decades... not to mention virtually every new genre of popular music being accused of corrupting the youth (rock, punk, rap, emo, etc.).
Very true.

Another prominent fake scare was against comic books in the 50s, when a crackpot psychiatrist published a book called "Seduction of the Innocent" that alleged to "prove" that reading comic books led to juvenile delinquency. The "proof" of this claim was that juvenile delinquents had read comic books -- back in a time when pretty much every kid read comic books. But the resultant scare led to comic books being destroyed and eventually to strict censorship. During this period "Mad" switched from a comic book format to a magazine to escape that censorship.

The deadline for public comments is May 22nd. GLAAD has a convenient link with instructions on how to file your comments on the matter:

The 10 Nosey Moms an AFA outfit said to make comments claiming it was about parental rights on their website which I just laugh at it and see how many sign petitions on what phony outrage and what ads they want banned. Once a month I'll read about comments on FCC which I doubt they'll say how many will do it just putting a link which they'll claim the TV rating system is flaw which their wrong about and don't like free speech, since they support censorship.
