94.9. If it were me, I'd do it tomorrow.

I know I have mentioned this before... but think about this for a minute. In Pittsburg, Clear Channel flipped an underperforming FM and took Rush and all the staple programs from KDKA (The nation's oldest station). They did the same thing in Minneapolis with KSTP 1500, and put them on an FM.....

KARN pays a lot of money for Rush because of the battle that ensued over him when Signal flipped 103.7 to talk back in the early days. But do you think it would be worth it to flip 94.9 or Magic 105 to a news/talk format? Based on the potential success in those bigger markets, I could see that happening in Little Rock where you have two huge signals that in the words of Toby Keith, "Just ain't as good as they once were..."

I would do the Jack format (or Louie, Bill, Dave, Earl, Clifford... okay that last one I made up) with one of them, but I wouldn't rule out KARN getting an FM competitor before it is all said and done with CC....

Wow. Blow up Magic 105? Now, why would CC mess with a a heritage...oh, never mind. But they'd better put a guard on the cars in the CC parking lot if they do that.

Who could potentially make more money? Jack is inexpensive to run, and if they hit big with 25-54 as the other Jacks do then there would be a lot of potential. On the other hand...it's Rush...going into the 2006 and '08 elections.

I think I'd still put Jack on the big signal of 94.9. Plus, if they did turn 105 to talk, Clyde's show wouldn't be such a stretch for Sundays nights on a Jack format. But I wouldn't bet against your prediction, either.

Just my opinion, but why not stick to a real format? One that will still be used in 5-10 years.
