Change at K276EL 103.1 Austin!

Of course, it wouldn't hurt to have a little extra money / a ratings boost. ::)

Will Jammin' return after this?

Couldn't they have done this on KVET FM HD1?

The fact that they didn't demonstrated the HD Radio penetration among the attendees.

It appears few of them carry obsolete electronics.

So 103.1 is going EDM!!!!

Curious if CC is planning to launch it's second EDM station.

From Radioinsight-

The micro-format, temporary branded as “IHeartAustin Radio” will run through March 17. During this time Clear Channel will feature coverage of the SXSW Interactive Festival and the music of those performing at the music festival including programming from its “Evolution” Dance Music channel. ;D

I can't imagine CC going back to Jammin 103.1 but I could be wrong.

From what I've heard it sounds like more of an Indi rock format. Not that much electro-dance in it, but some probably exists.

EDM was on earlier this evening. They switched over to Alternative/Indie Rock around 10 or so.

The signal covers mostly the central core of Austin but not much beyond that. I'm not sure how far it goes north but I noticed it breaking up while driving toward the airport earlier. It sounds okay in Downtown but not sure how easily it would be picked up in the highrises. At this point its pure speculation whether or not it will flip to something else after SXSW or go back to Jammin. IMO it would make more sense for Mega to return to FM. They are showcasing EDM artists that will be here during SXSW, and I am thinking they may have some dance mix shows over the weekend nights but again not sure.

The signal for this translator does seem very limited. I am in the area north of Austin a few times each year, and assumed I'd be able to listen to Jammin when going down around Round Rock to eat/shop, etc. Wrong! The translator doesn't even reach Round Rock at all and appears to mostly cover downtown and south of the city. With Williamson county and the northern suburbs exploding with growth, I would have to think this is a limiting factor for this translator. But, yeah, putting Evolution on full time would be great. And it would fit right in with Austin's penchant for weird, fringe formats.

Let's be fair, and realistic as well. What Austin translator does cover Round Rock, or for that matter, more than just a small portion of Williamson County? 103.1's coverage is roughly equal to all the others, and better than a couple of the lower-powered ones. Even with great antenna height you simply can't cover the Austin metro area with a mere 250 watts.

Williamson County and Travis County Line on US 183 you are able to receive it, it cuts off around Lakeline Drive and 183. Burnet and Koenig, it comes in clear. So clear my radio walkman has to be set to Local instead of DX. You can't receive it in Leander, or Cedar Park (maybe on a good car stereo)

Which is like saying it might as well not exist in Leander or Cedar Park. An average listener is simply not going to listen to a station he can't hear on very many radios!

Clear Channel just launched it's second Evolution dance station in Miami on a translator in that market (www.evolution935.com). So wonder if they'll roll out Evolution on 103.1 once SXSW is over? I'm really hoping they keep pushing this EDM format and keep rolling it out in more markets on translators/HD2 signals/ and rimshots.

They should bring it to 105.7 or buy another translator in SA!

CC has 93.3 coming online very soon.

Right, forgot about that one. 93.3 is still La Nueva Radio Cristiana (Spanish Christian Tejano). I guess CC'll leave them to broadcast maybe right up until the move, otherwise it could take a while.

JAMMiN 103.1 LOL after the week we will be back to normal

From their facebook page

Jammin will be back!!!! At least I have some Oldies to listen to.

If CC flips 93.3 my guess would be:

Jammin 93.3 (would be Jammin's 3rd try in San Antonio) Or they could go against Cox's KONO with KOOL 93.3. Or launch a Hot AC on KXXM HD-3 (like they did with KHFI-HD2) and put that on 93.3 to go against Magic. Or do a Regional Mexican format similar to KROM to rival Univison, place WOAI-AM on that signal (I am for that one would like to hear Rush and Hannity again on FM, or do a Rock format to rival KISS (not really likely)
