Change coming in Gainesville?

We get so little radio changes in Gainesville--I hadn't listened to WDVH for a while but they are running teasers about a major change coming to WDVH in less than a month. They have been classic country for the last five years or so. I wonder if they are planning to split off the AM (980) from the Trenton FM? Maybe a simulcast of 980 and 720 since an adult standards format is missing from Gainesville? No one has done Spanish so that might be a possibility.

I guess if we see Jim Brand browsing the foreign language section at the Friends of the Library book sale next weekend we'll know what's coming! (maybe on May 5th???)

WDVH-AM 980, while it was still WLUS, did briefly re-broadcast WRZN-AM 720 and its adult standards format. The orginal plan was to "Trimulcast" WLUS-AM 980, WRZN-AM 720 and WYNY-AM 1240 (now WZCC). The combined three station combination was supposed to be known as "The Cozy Group". This plan was soon abandoned because of the expense factor directly associated with linking the stations via an STL or a dedicated T1 phone line. Pamal Broadcasting did simulcast The Gene Martin show from WRZN over WLUS via the internet, but there were countless technical issues under that set-up. The stations eventually went to seperate progamming - WYNY remained country rebroadcasting WDJY-FM 101.7 (now WDVH-FM); WLUS (now WDVH-AM) programmed adult standards from Westwood One while WRZN programmed the same adult standards format from WWI but from a seperate satellite receiving source.

The latest little teaser says to tune in at 7AM on Wednesday, May 12th. I'll be out of town that day so guess I'll miss the big surprise. Maybe Jim Brand is retiring or getting a co-host but there are those promos in English and Spanish.

??????? new format- all swap shop all the time ?????????????

9:05am and they are going into their third hour of the swap shop on a Wednesday. I thought that was only on Saturday? Website does not appear to have changed either. Maybe they forgot its Wednesday May12th. Still using the "country legends" imaging and so far Jim Brand is speaking English!

Anything now, 6 days later?

The change happened. Swap Shop is now Wednesday AND Saturday. Website reflected that change last Wednesday morning.

It got us all talking didn't it?? Ol' Jim Brand still has it! Wonder if looks at these boards?

Pretty exciting. So when is UF flipping 103.7 to CHR and really changing the Gainesville market?

And although its been sounding better recently, it leaves alot to be desired too. Just sayin

Stay tuned. Rock 104 is in flux. Exactly what & when may be a mystery, but doing the SOS ain't an option.

And, to paraphrase an old consultant buddy of mine, when the elephants dance, the ants get crushed.
