I wonder if anyone will change their FM format here in Canada?
(Montreal/Ottawa markets remain unchanged in this ruling)
The CRTC has just made a big change that *could* leave AM music stations dead.
*Durham radio inc. (Owner of oldies station CKDO in Oshawa)
had this to say:
"some Oldies AM stations will be negatively affected by competing FM stations adopting the Oldies format."
But the CRTC had this to say:
"In light of the above, and with a view to ensuring that its policies remain relevant to the Canadian broadcasting system, the Commission eliminates the policy restricting the broadcast of hits by English-language commercial FM radio stations in English-language markets, effective immediately."
