Change the Milwaukee radio market please

Lots of Milwaukee radio stations really stink and need to change formats. ACs KCMX Lite 102 (101.9) in Medford, OR, WDKB B94.9 in DeKalb, IL, WSHW 99.7 Shine 99 in Frankfort, IN, WYNG 94-9 Wyng FM in Mt. Carmel, IL, 102.7 WBOW in Terre Haute, IN, WRVR 104.5 in Memphis, TN, KONA Mix 105.3 in Kennewick, WA, and WSJY Lite 107-3 in Fort Atkinson, WI are all MUCH BETTER than dumb WLDB B93.3! And I'm just bettin' that KCNB B94.7 in Chadron, NE is better too though it's prolly a hot AC.

B93.3 has been the worst AC I have ever heard. Whoever programs this station def. doesn't know good AC music. These are all the Milwaukee stations that need to change format:

1.) WLDB B93.3 - GET REAL B! Your music SUCKS!

2.) WLWK 94.5 Lake FM (really lame TV commercial) - where in heck is the new music Lake?

3.) WRIT Oldies 95.7 - bore me to death

4.) WKLH 96.5 - crap, crap, crap. I'd rather hear KFXJ 104.5 The Fox in Wichita, KS but unfort. it doesn't stream.

5.) WWDV 96.9 The Drive - BORING!

6.) WRNW 97.3 Radio Now - bring back the Brew!

7.) WMYX 99.1 - Worst hot AC I've ever heard. I have sent multiple messages to this station concerning their DJs, music playlist, and logo but they refuse to change. Van the Man doesn't fit on that station and needs to be fired - have sent him multiple messages telling him he's no good. They need to be more like KBRK B93.7 out of Brookings, SD - best hot AC!

8.) WPJP 100.1 - Please, does anyone really listen to this religious talk crap?

9.) WHQG 102-9 The Hog - bring back Lazer 103~!

10.) WXSS 103.7 Kiss FM - change the ugly logo and cut out the rhythmic rap stuff. Go all mainstream Kiss and fire ALL the DJs, especially Jo-Jo!

11.) WDDW 104.7 - Spanish crap that my friend Jay turns on in his car just to annoy me. Get rid of it!

12.) WTKM 104.9 - Station is the only polka station around in the whole country. Change it to smooth jazz and spare us the torture of this yucky crap. Low ratings obviously does not matter to this station. Hard to believe they even have money to stream online.

13.) WKMZ - bring back the Fish and keep the music same!

14.) WZBK Big Buck 106.9 - BRING BACK WPNT 106.9 THE POINT AND CUT OUT THE CCC CLASSIC COUNTRY CRAP!

15.) WVCY 107.7 - I know people that listen to this station and they are real religious nerds. Turn this station into something cool and change those people into cool people at the same time. Cannot stand religious talk - it's almost as bad as sports talk!

Change the entire AM dial to music formats such as CHR, hot AC, and smooth jazz leaving out Radio Disney and WNOV 860.

You sir, need a lesson in demographics. Obviously those stations sound the way they are because the PDs of those stations are trying to bring out their stations to the audience in Milwaukee.

Geez, you hate every station that is in a major/large/medium market, do you? I'm sorry, but looking at how much you hate how most stations are programmed and how they sound like, you'll never become a PD.

I haven't had a chance to listen to Milwaukee radio in a few years, but when I was in Milwaukee a few years back, I thought Milwaukee radio sounded better than Chicago radio. Since losing Nine FM, I've had to settle for Rewind 100.3. I don't know if I would like WLWK, but liked it when it was WKTI, and liked listening to WMYX. I also have no issue with the WDRV/WWDV simulcast either. The WDRV/WWDV simulcast is the only one that covers Chicagoland & most of the southern Milwaukee market, primarily due to 97.1 being the only Chicago station that doesn't the entire market, & have to use 96.9 to cover the northern suburbs of Chicago.

As for 105.3; I didn't care for it when it was the Fish, and wouldn't care for it as K Love. I found 105.3 to be a rather weak signal too compared to other stations with suburban signals. 107.7 is also not my favorite, but it does have the listeners to support the station.

One thing I always hear about Milwaukee radio is that it's usually stagnant. I don't know how true that is. But if people complain about Milwaukee radio, then I wonder if people complain about Milwaukee TV.

Y'know, I grew up in Milwaukee 40 years ago. Down here in Nashville, 94.9 is my best DX frequency & WYNG is the station that does the best job of ruining the DX . Which means I'm pretty familiar with WYNG.

WYNG very much reminds me of a Milwaukee station.

It reminds me of WTMJ, 40 years ago. A variety of local and not so local talk & sports, information, and some inoffensive music to hold it all together. Actually, I'll bet it works pretty well in Mount Carmel. It worked pretty well for WTMJ, back then.

But Mount Carmel and Milwaukee are two very different markets, and it ceased to be 1970 a long time ago!

I was up there for a few days last week. Can't say I've really much to complain about. Would like to have some classical music in analog (I do think it's a shame WUWM and WHAD are essentially redundant) and would love to have a WORT translator now that WUWM's HD clobbers 89.9.

But what the local commercial stations don't provide, the non-comms do, and what neither provides, you can get from WGN and WBBM.

I'd rather hear KXBN B-92, KAZX Star 102.9, or 102.5 KDWZ instead but unfort. I'm not in those areas.

Personally, I nominate Boston as being the most stagnant and dull large market in the US. Almost nothing rhythmic in that market.

I am fortunate as I live in a location where I am in the northern end of the Chicago market but also get almost all of the Milwaukee market signals as well. And, I have to say that Milwaukee is a great radio market - especially considering it's mid-sized status. Compare it with the likes of Providence or Columbus or Hartford or Indy and it is a spectacular market.

After all, what is Milwaukee missing? There are rockers of pretty much every genre (including EXCELLENT classic rockers); two competitive CHRs; a very good urban AC, a decent urban AC and an excellent urban contemporary; a solid oldies station (if you don't believe me, travel around beyond Chicago); a good variety hits; very good country and classic country formats; top-notch NPR stations; and competitive - yet very good - news/talkers. You even have a viable Spanish FM in a not-that-Spanish speaking market. Heck, there's even a rimshot that plays Polkas at night! I am hard-pressed to find a format hole here without getting pretty esoteric.

Truly, you have nothing to complain about in this market and "changing" it would almost certainly be a negative. Again, travel somewhere else and see if you have that level of variety in a mid-sized market (Milwaukee is #38). Not likely.

Even though Boston only has 2 stations playing hit music, at least they actually have stations playing "all the hits", unlike Atlanta. Q100 and Star 94 are basically hot ACs, WILD 105.7/96.7 is basically a wannabe hip-hop station. At least they have V103 and Hot 107.9.

1.) WLDB B93.3 - They're kind of an AC/HAC/80s mishmash. Used to be softer, but went after the old KTI audience. They currently get scary good ratings. I kinda like their 80s weekends. John Tesh deserves to be eaten by rabid goats. You want minivan music? Listen to 92.1.

2.) WLWK 94.5 Lake FM - It's basically Milwaukee's version of Jack FM, a.k.a. the home of the infamous Doors into Lady Gaga into Van Halen segues. I listen if there's really nothing else interesting on the dial.

3.) WRIT Oldies 95.7 - Need a bigger playlist. Best processing in the market. Lame jocks.

4.) WKLH 96.5 - If you haven't listened to it in the past 20 years, it still sounds the same.

5.) WWDV 96.9 The Drive - When I actually want to hear music in the morning (same goes for 88.9 Radio Milwaukee, a good station that doesn't get mentioned a lot around here). Kinda weird hearing hard rock on the station now, since they used to be so mellow.

6.) WRNW 97.3 Radio Now - I'm not in the demographic. Essentially wall-to-wall autotune. I liked the Brew, but I admit that it did get pretty stale and neglected. All the voicetracking and repitition really killed it. Didn't stand a chance.

7.) WMYX 99.1 - Van the Man doesn't give a s**t what you think of him. But Seacrest really sucks!

8.) WPJP 100.1 - Who cares?

9.) WHQG 102-9 The Hog - A lot better than Lazer! Processing is horrible, as is the case with all the Saga stations.

10.) WXSS 103.7 Kiss FM - Basically Radio Now with more rap.

11.) WDDW 104.7 - No habla espanol.

12.) WTKM 104.9 - Can't remember the last time I listened. Is it still an old-time country/polka hybrid?

13.) WKMZ - See WPJP.

What are your thoughts on the other stations not mentioned? I strongly disagree with you about the smooth jazz. I will always love smooth jazz and the way it makes me feel. B93.3 doesn't compare to 102.7 WBOW in Terre Haute, IN or KCMX Lite 102 (101.9) in Medford, OR.
