I tried WOGL one more time today, to hear the lost hit, during the 6 o'clock hour, it was nothing but Motown, Soul and R&B, Supremes, Temps, Tops, Vandellas, Isleys, Smokey and a few other soul tunes, Beatles, Beach Boys, Creedence or any Rock oriented product was nowhere to be found on the playlist. To make things worst, the lost hit was, I Fought the Law, that was another constant staple on every oldies station that ever existed, it seems the non-soul cuts are the lost hits. They followed that up with a Staple Singers tune, which had less airplay then the Bobbly Fuller Four, but that was not considered a lost hit, the BFF's was???? I cannot understand why anyone would want to constantly hear these Motown tunes, each have been played over 6,000 times since WOGL was launched, something is extremely wrong with this picture. If WNJO was still around, WOGL would have much lower ratings, they had their lowest books (hovering in the 3.0's) when WNJO was main stream oldies.

Actually, to some "I Fought The Law" IS a lost hit. As far as WOGL goes the only time you would hear that is on Hyski's show.

WOGL's raitings are in the solid four share range - if people were really disguisted with it, we would have WPEN still as "Oldies 950." But that isnt tha case, for a variety of reasons.

I'm not happy with WOGL as of late either - repetition, lack of pre-64 tunes, and hearing more classic rock than I care to.....

But thats why radio's come with tuning knobs....
______________

Screw The Slogan; Change The Station!

If the Bobby Fuller Four's "Fought The Law" is a "lost oldie" to OGL...they're even more lame than I thought.

OGL's lack of a coherent oldies playlist makes me even happier that I (1) burn my own CD's, (2) download from iTunes/RealRhapsody/Napster online into my iPod and (3) subscribe to Sirius.

All due respect to P.D. Anne Gress of OGL, but, she is better at selecting dessert from the menu than at selecting a broad-based, satisfying 500-tune playlist of certified oldies hits.

> "Oldies 98" is doing very well, doesn't it?

One problem - WOGL isnt "Oldies 98"....hasnt been since 2002....
______________

Who really cares if 950 failed, they played the same tunes that OGL did, Soul, R&B and Motown. If they did something completely different and honest, such as play the real oldies that dominated the WIBBAGE and WFIL charts, instead of the same Rhythmic oldies, then I would be upset. We just lost another R&B oldies station like the ones that faded in the past. The people that program these oldies stations are out of touch with the real deal, they program for their Rhythmic tastes, not the General Public and the FAIL. I don't think the sinking 3.9 of WOGL is anything to celebrate, this trend will continue until Infinity puts them out of their misery, and goes after the younger crowd. You want to open your narrow mind and hear what a real oldies station sounds like, tune to WMID then talk to me.
