no way davis leaves wbap & the new abc syndication deal...he's locked up there, plus, even "letting his hair down", i just don't think he'd be a good fit...
now, if you want the flaming to begin, i assume some of the members of this board know the real "still crazy after all these years" kevin mccarthy as well as the buttoned-down, mainstream media personality...
i wonder if russ could talk gavin into putting me, my old buddies donovan lewis, connie herrera and a person to be named later into the morning slot?
btw, here's stern's speculation about why this is going to happen sooner than later from the new york post today:
---------------------------------
HOWARD Stern says he might be off "free" radio as soon as the end of summer — and not by choice.
The top-rated shock jock is officially set to debut on Sirius Satellite Radio on Jan. 1, but Stern says he believes his current employer, Infinity Broadcasting, might pull his plug sooner.
"Technically, we're working for the summer, and then we're done here — that's what I heard," Stern told his K-Rock (92.3 FM) listeners yesterday.
"The theory is that if we're here for the ratings period in the fall, they can't sell advertising because [ad buyers] are going to go, 'Those were Howard's ratings and we're not going to pay.' "
Arbitron's fall radio ratings, which are published the following January, set the tone for advertising rates through much of the new year.
"So they figured [they'd] get the new morning show in here and, even if the ratings go down, at least there's something to sell," Stern said.
Two advertising execs told The Post it doesn't make sense for Infinity to drop Stern early and lose mega-millions in ad revenue, especially since the initial ratings for a replacement show are bound to be low.
"K-Rock is selling Howard quite well at this point as the last opportunity to get Stern before he leaves for satellite radio," said Mark Lefkowitz of ad agency Furman Roth.
"People are jumping on the bandwagon now," says ad firm JL Media's Kenny Konstantin. "A lot of people are tuning into Stern before he cuts out."
An Infinity spokesperson said there are "no plans to take Stern off the air at this time."
