Changes at 102.3 the Max

Maybe they can just bump Brooke and Jubal over to 105.1. They don't seem to have a morning show anymore since EZ moved over to 101.3 in the afternoons. Sound crazy? I think so, but the only reason I say this is apparently on the same day 102.3 began airing it, Alpha also added it to a throwback hip hop station in Mississippi.

That should give people an idea of how strong the focus is on that show.

You made a good observation.Brooke and Jubal are now on the newly renamed g105.1

Just to revive this thread (since it was discussed in the Carter Mann thread), there is some "big change" coming to 102.3 on Wednesday at 6 AM. They've been hyping it several times per hour.

Given they're doing it at 6 AM, I would imagine it might be a new morning show (finally). But I noticed (according to their website) that Sarah Jordan is apparently doing 6-10 on there right now, is that just a temporary thing so that they can say that they have a morning on-air talent? I haven't bothered listening in the mornings lately.

I'm wondering if it could be a new branding or format tweak to. Or somebody even mentioned that one of the promos actually says "you spoke, we listened." There is only one thing people have been speaking about a lot with 102.3 lately and that is how they want Lynda back on. Could she be coming back with a partner that fits the show a little better than Eric did? That's not to say Eric was bad, he just wasn't to fill that specific role in the way George did.

102

I'm a big dreamer, but I'd like to see LRS 102 come back and although it never seems to work around here, some kind of a 80's station. Don't just scrap the mainstream, hit the album tracks, and get a little deeper in the albums of the time. Span 1978-1991 or so. I think it'd be good.. it'd be different than the tired Classic Rock formats

I just thought I'd express that. I know it won't happen.

I'm not expecting any major format change since they seem to be hyping it as something that their audience will like, but who knows. The hyping on The Fox made it seem like it would be something their listeners would want and they went the complete opposite direction.

I'm thinking a new morning show, but they'd have to be careful about how they hype that, because we all saw how the Brooke and Jubal fiasco went down (I still can't get over them now airing that show on the throwback hip hop station, but then again, Brooke and Jubal airs on country music stations in some markets too).

I wonder if there was a contract signed with B + J and it was cheaper to put them on 105.1 than to break the contract.

I could be wrong on this, but I think The Max may have accidentally made their big reveal already by airing a promo for their morning show today. I didn't listen closely, but I could have sworn that I heard a promo on there a few minutes ago advertising "Chris and Sarah in the Morning."

So... obviously Sarah is Sarah Jordan, who is apparently doing mornings now anyway. But am I to guess that Chris is Chris Randolph? Or did I just completely hear everything wrong on there?

I did see that Chris Randolph was going some where once his thing ended and that was on his facebook page.

I bet it is chris. He has a non compete he said and was waitin for it to end. Funny he maybe goin back to the cluster he left 16 17 years ago.

And he likes mornings. Use to do it at 98.9 kiss fm for awhile. Smart move on alphas part if it comes to pass. You dont put a syndicated morning show on a station that has had a live n local mornin show since they went on the air in 2002.

Yes qmf did yank rocky and troy to put bob n tom on. Never was a good idea.

He just posted on FB.

I'M SOOOOOO HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE that as of this morning at 6am, I'll be co-hosting the morning show with the VERY talented and beautiful Sarah Jordan on the legendary 102.3 THE MAX. My non-compete contract ended a few days back allowing me to get back on the air. It's gonna be SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!

He should do great. Was on Tampa's Mix 100.7 and also Lexington's Mix 94.5 as well.

They seem to have completely redone everything. The schedule they have posted online only goes through 7, but I noticed Chaz (who had been doing the Chaz and Dave Show on weekends) was on at 7, so it seems they're trying to do a full lineup of local stuff.

I've got to admit, it is nice to see them at least try to shake things up and put more effort into fixing the station instead of imploding it and starting with a new format or rebranding it. It's still unfortunate that Lynda got tossed to the side with all of it though, maybe if Chris Randolph had been available a year ago he could have been paired with Lynda... he could have filled that "George" role pretty well. I still wonder if she'll bounce back somewhere. I could almost see her going the public radio route like Mel did. She's got a very "public radio" style about her, she'd be a good fit for WFPL. By the way, it seems that Ron has gone to WFPL/WFPK as well, I've heard him filling in on a few things (mostly news on WFPL, he was filling in for Susan Sweeney Crum a few weeks ago) and they've both been part of the pledge drive going on this week.

I saw something I couldn't believe today... I saw the MAX station vehicle pass in front of me at a downtown intersection and on the driver side door was the old Lambert & Lindsey logo!!! It was the one with the woman & bald Man... I could not believe it had not been removed yet! How long has George been gone??? And now, Lynda...... I just shook my head...
