I've heard Georgia 105 speaking on air, as if it was changing formats. Today I hear Smooth Jazz at 105.1.

:( :( :(

Bummer. While the signal wasn't the best, Georgia 105 had a great mix of music--more interesting than, say, B98.5. I found myself listening to them more when that stupid 102.9 translator made Majic a tougher listen. Did True Oldies (and Majic, for that matter) take too much of its audience?

Is this signal big enough for someone to make it a go? Or is this signal ripe for someone to take dark or move out so they can boost something else? Would CC consider buying it back to boost 105.3? Or would 105.7 be more of a stymie there?

I agree it's a bummer. First, it was run by 2 real radio guys, KJ Allen and Benji Kurtz, who are in the business because they love it. Second, the station had become a part of the community. For the longest time, Clear Channel just kept it on the air by throwing whatever simulcast they felt like on it. Third, Kurtz gave that area one of the best programmed stations anywhere.

Now the ownership is throwing all that away to start anew. Let's see if they can make a go of it and bring the kind of dedication that Allen and Kurtz had to the station and the community.

just what we need, more smooth jazz. please, for the love of artform, make smooth jazz go away and make real jazz the norm again.

I have spoken.

Is 101.9 WAZX still available? I read "See you soon" on the link. If they made offers to buy, they have the money to buy 101.9. I would love to hear Georgia 105 move to 103.7 in Maysville. 103.7 will have a stronger signal over northeast Atlanta than 105.1. :D I question if COX will move 103.7 WXKT or do anything with it any time soon.

Lately, 102.9 WMJE's signal over Gwinnett seems weaker.

Well, it seems like Smooth Jazz was a stunt and 105.1 has found a really unique sound of its own that is really needed in North Georgia -

another country station.

No, wait... ???
