Saw this on All Access:

Veteran PD, on-air personality, and voiceover talent RICH STEVENS is celebrating his birthday TODAY (5/6) by announcing a new gig -- taking over the 9a-noon (ET) slot at JAMES CRYSTAL RADIO Talk WFTL-A/FORT LAUDERDALE-WEST PALM BEACH.

So, what is he going to do? It almost sounds like he's a jock if he was working at a Hot AC station. Are they going music on WFTL?
 
I just looked at the coverage map for WFTL-AM and it is WEIRD! The xmitter looks like it is just south of Belle Glade which puts it 50 miles or so from the coast. No wonder we can't pick them up here in Miami!

Most likely, he'll be hosting a talk show. You speak as if old jocks can't learn new tricks. Remember where Rush Limbaugh and Alan Colmes came from.

I was able, with some tweaking, to hear this station (very very faintly) in Bermuda....in the daytime!! Their night signal there was a monster!!

I work in Miami & can hear it on the car radio. Not super clean, but certainly listenable.

Indeed....it may be the strongest USA AM there. Were you there in the last 18 months? Was wondering if Nassau's AM 1240 has been deleted (it's only 107.9 FM now, I think).

I was able to pick up WFTL very faintly once in the late afternoon here in Charlotte. Probably couldn't do it now since we have a daytimer now on 870.

But it IS on the air! All it takes to move on to something better is a resume and a good sounding aircheck.
