Changes at 94.5/WGTK

At some point in recent time 94.5 WGTK-FM has rebranded to 94.5 The Answer.

Originally Conservative Talk 94.5, they went by just 94.5 WGTK for a while before the most recent name change.

They also have the rights to Sean Hannity now which airs 3pm-5pm, break for news from 5-6pm and the final hour delayed from 6-7pm.

I wonder why the main Talk Radio station in the Greenville-Spartanburg market, 106.3 WYRD-FM, doesn't carry Hannity? I know they have their own local afternoon show, and they run Dave Ramsey in the early evening. But you'd think they'd carry Hannity after that. Unless WGTK took it away from them, telling Premiere Networks that they'd run it MOSTLY live.

I see WGTK-FM also breaks from the Salem Talk line-up to run Mark Levin from Westwood One in the late evening. One more oddity... no Michael Medved on WGTK-FM. Everyone else on the Salem line-up gets carried, with repeats of Dennis Prager and Mike Gallagher overnight. But no Medved, not even on the weekend. A Salem Talk station that omits one of Salem's longest-running hosts.

Considering that WGTK is such an exceptionally strong signal, especially for Salem to have a talk format on (most of their talk stations are AM's or low power/rimshots) they may be willing to make exceptions for programming that would get higher ratings and bring in more revenue.

I mean...let's face it...none of Salem's talk hosts are very good compared to their Premiere, etc. counterparts, nor do they bring in the ratings. I wish they'd consider bringing back Savage or Laura Ingraham. 106.3's views are too "out there" for my tastes, they run some "prepping" show at 10pm now. They're more conservative than Salem!
