Changes at 95.5 The Beat

From R&R on-line today:

"WHZT (Hot 98.1)/Greenville, SC APD/MD/night jock Murph Dawg is headed to the big city as morning co-host for WBTS (95.5 The Beat)/Atlanta, where he'll join up with Stacy C."

So nights in market 60 on a rim-shot signal qualifies you for mornings in market 9 ?

... well it's not like Stacey C. had any major market or radio experience (if my memory serves me correct didn't she start out on 955 as an intern and worked her way up?)

The Beat has really been lacking talent since the departure of Toddzilla.

Wow! The BEAT nows wants a morning show after all these years. As long as Q100 and HOT 107.9 is around, the BEATdown for 95.5 continues! Oops I forgot they're #1 for Hip-Hop! Didn't former V-103er TossWaid join the BEAT crew for weekends? He did have the #1 night show 18-34 over at V. HINT HINT

If he's talented enough, why not? Just being on a rimshot signal in a small market shouldn't disqualify you from anything. There's some great talent in smaller markets and some godawful talent in the majors.

Thank you. And I'd say "rimshot" for Hot 98.1 is pushing it. Yes, their signal in extreme northeast South Carolina doesn't give them as great coverage over the area as their competitor, B93.7. But it's still huge - I'd compare it to 95-5 The Beat's signal, coincidentally.

WHZT is a sister Cox station, with the exact same format and playlist as the Beat.

I guess the time between music and talk will be divided up the same as Kelly and Alpha on sister B98.5.

The Beat changed their city of license so they can move the signal closer into town. They will have to downgrade (WSRM and WATG Rome in the way).

I hope this works out for them.
