Changes at Beasley

Market Manager Tom Davis is demoted to DOS. Beasley announces to the staff that a nation wide search is being conducted for a new Market Manager for Vegas.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
They have been searching for a while. That ship has been a drift from two years now or so without a Captain.

I noticed in BBGs 3rd Quarter report they said the company's profits fell due to general industry softness and a "decline in revenue in Las Vegas" which they attributed to having two recent format changes.

They could milk the OJ stuff, like KFI in LA, but they just don't have it in them. They should get rid of the name "Beasley" -- it sounds like something June and Ward Cleaver would listen to while Beaver was playing in the back yard. And they should stop wearing cheap polyester pants.

I'm glad KDWN doesn't have it in them to milk it as much as KFI (although they cover it plenty, they have had several reporters at the courthouse). Even if it's local, The OJ story is garbage to distract people from more important issues such as the housing bubble and the slowing economy.

I recommend Charlotte Burke for that position. She has been a strong leader and among the most responsive PDs in the market since she came to town. Charlotte knows how to cope. She has mad people skills, too and excels at internal and external communications. Isn't it time to let her run the local operation? What could it hurt?

I can't listen to KCYE any longer. The midday guy who sounds like a girl is like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard.

They are looking for a co-host for the girl in the morning on Fresh. Who was doing it and is working for them a huge risk??????

From a programming perspective, the new KDWN morning news might be too dense. It's dominated by Nathan Tannelbaum and too many traffic reports every 6 minutes. How are they doing with this high intensity, information rich, news format, with little personality, competing against shows at a slower pace like Doug Basham and Alan Stock??? Nathan is one of the best news voices in the industry (right next to Larry Van Nuys/KNX, Pete Moss/KDWN, Bill Vitka/FOX, Rich Johnson/FOX, Pat Allen/KKOB, Rick Van Cise/KIRO-TV) but they need more voices and humor on the new KDWN morning news. Nathan's working much harder than he should have to for 3.5 hours, it seems.

Nathan Demos!!!

a good voice is about the only positive I can give Nathan Tannenbaum. To be honest, he's worn out his welcome, is not known as a credible news anything, and is not even that well liked. No TV wants him, and KDWN and its not-from-Vegas management apparently didn't do any research before hiring him. I suggest KDWN do what has proven to work up north: follow what KOH has done and hire a host who has true appeal.

My goodness, I am sorry to see my post followed by a negative post! Nathan is one of the best newscasters I've ever heard, I've only been here 2 months and the KDWN morning news is great. I just think they're making him work too hard, they could hire a female co-host.

"Mad people skills"?
She "knows how to cope"?
"excels at ...communications"?
"What could it hurt"?

Wow...Is this post a joke?

Not any more.... a source told me that it was announced today that Mike Glickenhaus has changed his mind to take the GM postition at BBG/Las Vegas due to family matters.

"After only two days as VP/market manager for Beasley's five-station Las Vegas cluster, Mike Glickenhaus has resigned"

Could it be possible that he came to Vegas and met his match? You know, someone with "Mad people skills", who "knows how to cope" and "excels at ...communications"?

I would run back home too!

This must be one smart guy. It took him less than 48 hours to figure this mess out......"personal reasons"....yes....like I personally don't want to ruin my career this way!

"Brian Beasley says '"although this has caught us by surprise...we had several strong candidates to vie for this job."'

Mr. Beasley, if you read this, please know that your company has plenty of listeners and fans in the Las Vegas market. Some of us appreciate what you are attempting in this difficult radio environment. May I respectfully suggest that you take advantage of Mike's sudden departure to look closely at Charlotte Burke as a worthy replacement. It does not matter that she was overlooked in your recent decision; what's past is past. Most important for the future is that Beasley have a steady hand and a keen managerial eye on your watch in this community.

Where decisions are needed, Ms. Burke is ready to lead. Where the ability to rally consensus is crucial, she delivers. And her way with people is perhaps her strongest suit, as those who know her and have dealt with her can readily attest.

On this board, there are contrarians who no doubt want to retain the glass ceiling. Be bigger than that. Don't let the executive savvy that Charlotte Burke possesses in spades (sorry, couldn't resist) go without its reward. We have everything to gain by her ascendency. And so does the Beasley organization.

What kind of "exec" uses such poor grammar? To vie?

He's either dumb...or a southerner---and those two are not mutually exclusive.
