Changes at Channel?

According to their Facebook page, Ryan Drake (former PD) is back at WDKF and is running the Facebook page. Look for him to be on-air this Saturday from 3-7p. He also commented on a status saying "Things are only getting bigger on the station for the future as well, so stay tuned in... And tell yo' friends!!!" Maybe they'll let him have control over Channel again? Keep in mind, he was PD when Channel beat Z93 and they flipped to Fly.

Do you think Channel could get some local programming? Is it smart for CC to localize the station or keep it PC?

With the signal it's on they better go local at some point. It makes no sense to have it be just on PC if it's on 99.9.

Their ratings are looking better, but with the same corporate programming and no local interaction, how are they going to beat Hot 1029? I see the numbers falling off a little after the iheartradio music festival is over.

I have to chime in here. As a loyal supporter and fan of Z-93 from the mid 80s until they left the airwaves on November 1, 2007, Channel beating them in the book wasn't the reason that Z was blown up and changed to Fly. That was a corporate decision made by Main Line b/c they wanted to run a cheaper format. Channel had nothing to do with Z-93 going away. Years of stupid management decisions, several changes in ownership, not to mention Radio One throwing Hot 102.9 on the air with a format that drew a similar audience, all killed Z. Z was Radio One's "Red headed stepchild" b/c it didn't fit Radio One's "Urban" audience. Channel was nothing but a thorn in Z's side. They always were. Anyone that says anything else either isn't fully informed or is just feeding into rumors that were probably started by the people that ran Channel at that time. "We ran Z-93 off the air!" is what they THINK, not what they KNOW.
Channel HAS to go live and local in at least two day parts to be comparable to Hot 102.9. Mornings they can probably still keep Elvis Duran, but if they're smart, they'd put a live and local morning show on there. Or go live and local in afternoons and nights. They HAVE to go local at some point or this frequency move will be for naught. Channel's music is decent enough, their imaging is good, now they have to start building this station locally.

I never said Channel ran Z out of town, but Drake was the PD that last book for Z when they were under Channel. With Drake back at Channel, we may see some new things come into play. Let's hope.
