Bradshaw (98.3) got the axe too.
Cumulus is trimming the fat and plans to make more changes! My source re-affirmed last night in a phone conversation, that a third CHR in Des Moines is indeed on its way to 98.3!
Will occur sometime in March!
Hard to believe there is going to be 3 CHR's in this town soon. I too have heard the talk of a MAJOR 98-3 shift in the upcoming months. 3 CHR's won't stand long. Someone will go down eventually. But even if we have 3 of them for say...2-4 years that would be historic.
If I were a betting person, I would say it would be KKDM that falls. Des Moines as a whole seems to latch on to new stuff for several years then they start to get a little antsy for something different. KISS has been on top for too long and its quite evident that listeners are simply bored with it...
98.3 will bring a big stick into the fight (unlike 105.9) and from what I hear, it will be more mainstream like KISS, leaving 99.9 to keep the rhythmic crowd. The monikers my source keeps hearing if Cumulus indeed brings a CHR to Des Moines are either: "HOT", "Q", or "POWER"...possibly even "The Vibe".
