Changes at Cumulus.

What kind of impact do you think Mike McVay will have on Cumulus when he starts as their SVP Programming? What does it mean for Jan Jeffries?

I can't imagine the broadcast consultancy business being very lucrative in today's environment. Mike probably joined Cumulus because he needs health insurance. I'm only half joking. The interesting angle is the Mike McVay/Charlie Cook relationship. Charlie C. was not a happy camper when Cumulus cut him.

I'm sure he took the job for a regular paycheck. You're right about the consulting business. How many stations are still paying for a consultant?

Would Cumulus blow up I94 to give their talk network an Indy market?
This would help with national sales for shows like Huckabee and Red Eye
Since the earlier failure of talk on 93.9, they have boosted the signal.
Comments??.

93.9 did talk a few years ago, which was 2-3 formats ago. Most of the major shows they aired are now on the Franklin station. Not sure if they'd try talk again. Guess that depends on whether they are making any money with the current format.

Chris Wheat is rumored to be out as Market Manager in Indy.

Really a shame not to have Chris in local radio. A good manager shields his people from the s#!t that rains from above - and, he was a master at that - especially when dealing with his Clear Channel handlers. Not a coincidence that he presided over some of the best stations in Indy. To think how great local radio used to be - and, the way consolidators have diminished radio's relevance today, saddens and sickens me.

Cumulus is mad at the Billy Bush syndicator so they dropped him and are plugging the non-talented Perez Hilton in. Their ratings will likely fall in that time slot.

Is that a veiled implication that Billy Bush was talented? I disagree.

At least Billy Bush is less irritating than the self promoting "blogger" Perez Hyatt, or is it Perez Sheraton..

Fall from where?

This is like suggesting Cumulus is committing suicide by jumping out of a ground-floor windiow.

Chris Wheat is a nice guy who did the best he could during a difficult time. This forum wishes him good health ;) .
