They give you frog names in HELL!

I remember when I was given the option of "Baskin Hoppins". That should have been clue #11, (in this 12 in a row) that the format, had some flaws!

My favorite "pride swallowing" breaks, included words like "Frogtober", "Frogtastic", etc.

Can anyone imagine how stupid, that format would have been on September 11th, 2001? "Hey it's "FROG NAME", we interrupt this 12 in a row, of Today's best Country..." My apologies to any Froggers who did endure this "apocalyse inducing" scenario, in other markets. That's an aircheck, I would love to hear, FROGGY 101 in Wilkes Barre, on 9/11...

There were a lot of good people here, when it was on. Had that been a differently packaged "Hot Country", it would have been interesting. Have a HOPPY DAY! C FROG Kane

I was programming the Froggy simulcast 94.9/98.3 in Pittsburgh, PA
Sept. 11th, 2001. Like many other stations, we temporarily went to
a news format. Respectfully, there was nothing "stupid" about the brand
that particular day.

In addition, I guarantee you the Froggy 101 PD, Mike Krinick, rose to the occasion and came across as "credible" to the listeners that didn't abandon the
format in search for news.

Now, for the frog names, those were painful. However, it's a clever
and proven concept regardless of how silly it sounds.

Regards from a seasoned frog!

Somebody must have thought so. That silly branding is all over the place, and still working in other places. But there again, Girls bouncing on a trampoline still works on the "Man Show" too. (Oh yeah!) It's a gimmick, but the kind of people that it works on, well, I am sure "Desechado" will happily draw a parallel soon. We go back a ways too, Matt, you might remember my on air promo with a haphazard "Memphis Mark" impression... CFKane

Great to hear from you Matt! Oh my, oh my! JB would not approve of that crack pipe smoking reference at all! Ha ha ha!! Hey, I don't doubt that there WERE some who didn't abandon the Frog in search of news That day. I hear 'em call Sean Hannity's show every day. Still, it would have been hard to maintain that kind of silliness in the face of the gravity of 9/11. Peace to you my little brother. Glad you're doing well.
______________

So, Trippy Hilfrogger (lol)....how long do you have to sit out? OR do you?

Another former Frog Sister ;-)

To the Froggy 94 staff...

This is kinda like a family reunion. I stayed out of this thread only because I'm moderator but I shoulda been the first - welcome Matt!

Funny, now that the last of the old Froggy alumn has exited the building, NOW we all get together to reminisce. Too bad Tripp can't post, I'm sure he'd love to say something. But that's okay, CFKane can certainly relay.

One frog name thing... Matt, you loved Jumpin' Jack Flash - but I know I wasn't the first frog with that name. My time was short on Froggy before it died, but when people learn I was JJF... they remember. Well, they don't remember me but they remember the name. And isn't that the while gimmick of the format? Sure, when it came to market heritage, Kix 106 had unbelievable brand recognition, but nobody can tell me that people couldn't remember that Froggy 94 played country?! It's been what, 4 1/2 years and people still remember. Judging from the book back then, Froggy accomplished it's goal of taking from Kix's numbers - and wasn't that the whole idea, not to beat them but to wound them?

Well, Matt, Tripp, Paul, Judy (if she reads this), Jeremy and others... we had a really great family thing going - hope we can all get together again somewhere. Yo, Matt.. put down the crack pipe and get your A$$ back to Memphis one weekend. Miss ya, bud!
______________

Re: To the Froggy 94 staff...

BTW- Mark Anthony was also known as Jumpin' Jack Flash while at
Froggy! Ahh, the good ole days....when we had that crappy Ford Aerostar
van with 7 diffrent shades of yellow! I remember the thing breaking
down and me having to pull off onto hooker alley (Lamar). Good
thing David Wick was behind me in the Bob truck!

Steve, too bad you came in toward the tail end of the Froggy days.
We had one hell of a good staff! Even the production director was
able to relax. We would pass by his office and he'd have his head
down sleeping!! Don't deny it Mike!!

HAHAHAHA! Matt...if he denies it, I believe I still have a photograph that was passed around quite a bit.

Now...That's Mike BRATTON...not the other Mike.

Otherwise known as... ahem... "Luke Skyhopper!" (A Frog name I suggested in half-in-jest over lunch at Owen Brennan's, by the way.)

There's only one photograph? Hey, with the wild hours I kept there, I'm surprised there aren't more. And yep, I would have the chance to put my head down from time to time, leaving a wakeup call with Mr. Edwards, aka "The Other Mike."

Only possible because, yes, the staff was hugely talented, and it was an honor and privilege to work with them all. (And the RVR folks, too...)

Ha! Good to hear from you, Mike. I had forgotten all about "Luke".
Stil at Bellvue doing that deal? Or with Adrian since he retired?

Absolutely. And busier than ever, Paul.

I just now got "meep meep." You have the honor of doing the best Road Runner impression I've ever heard! Can't forget it.

Hey, "Luke" is being picked up by the next generation, brother! My daughter came across some of my old Frog stuff and loves to listen to it... on-air stuff, parody spots, character bits, the whole nine yards. Her current favorite is "Frog Trek: Indigestion"!

"Daddy, you did all that? It sounds cool!" Man, in my house I'm bigger than Dees... :D

I'm presuming they decided against hiring another editor for the Salem broadcasts?
