Changes at Gumpdusky Sports Radio

AKA, the station that might be formerly known as KDUS.

They're calling themselves "The Fan" on-air instead of "The Deuce" (which never made sense anyway), and moved Bob Kemp to the Noon-3 PM slot. From the Bleachers will now air from 10 AM to noon and Calling All Sports moves from KMVP to KDUS from 3 to 6 PM. KDUS hasn't updated their website in awhile, but Calling All Sports' website has some details. CAS is streamed but via their website but none of the other KDUS programming is (but I hear it's in the works).

I don't see an application for a call letter change yet (but the CDBS database is broken right now), but it wouldn't surprise me if it happened. Of course, they could go back to KUKQ again to match the letters on their building. ;D

Looks like sports talk on 1060 isn't dead yet.

From what I've heard, KMVP was supposed to do away with the paid local sports shows. However, the Roy Garibaldi show, AKA "The Positive Side of Sports," was airing today on 860.

The Postive Side of Sucking Up has managed to survive at least 5 "last shows" already....last I heard it was supposed to have ended June 30th...maybe they got a month reprieve....we'll see today (August 1)

You wouldnt know it looking at the program lineup link on the KMVP website though....they still list Deportes ex Maximo (gone a year ago) among other dated information...I guess once Bonnyville gets a PD for KMVP hired they will fix that.....

It would appear ESPN is cracking the whip lately. They recently pulled the plug on Salem's (yes, Salem's) 50kW sportstalker WKNR/Cleveland due to the station running "too many infomercials, Lake County Captains (A-ball) baseball, and repeats of Jim Rome at night". The recipient of ESPN in Cleveland? A 1kW daytimer currently running gospel programs and paid preachers. Yikes! Could ESPN have been in play here in Phx, potentially leaving Bonneville with the nearly-defunct Sporting News Radio if they didn't get rid of the crap preventing ESPN's daytime lineup from the schedule?

I'll guess that it had a lot more to do with Salem's infomercials than Rome or any game play-by-play. ESPN-owned WMVP Chicago pre-empts network programming for Rome so there can't be that much of a gripe about it with the suits in Bristol. KMVP has more than its share of games (Suns & D'backs overflow, Cards, ASU, Mercury) that conflict with ESPN programming, so I don't think that'd be an issue either.
