Changes At KBEZ?

The rumor mill is going crazy this evening, suggesting a complete staff blow-out & a format change at 92.9 KBEZ.

Everything sounds normal on the air tonight, & the website is unchanged... does anybody know if anything really IS going on at Renda-Tulsa?

The music, imaging & website is unchanged this morning, but Steve & Carly are nowhere to be found.

Rumor has it the format change will happen at noon... what will they change to?

Complete staff blowout? Complete staff of two.

While I agree with you in spirit, that's not really fair:

Steve
Carly
Sammy
Kenneth (listed as being on overnight last night)
Lindsey

I wonder if Mix 96 or anybody else will pick up Delilah?

Don't forget Jerry Wallace, who in one form or another has been with the station for at least 30 years.

Other than a brief break a few years ago, Jerry has been with the station nearly 33 years. And he still looks the same! (I'm jealous.)

He certainly is one handsome dude!

Well, what's the next "brilliant" move? KRXO? They are paying for billboards, which means they are scared $hitless or they wouldn't bother. It's the lowest rated FM in the OKC cluster, but 92.5 has older demos. Which one will it Tony? Since they spent a ton of money on boards, my money is 1077. It rates higher in the bone-head dept so that always means it's more likely at Renda.

Is this fed from satellite? Right before noon they flipped from the middle of some boy band into the middle of an Elton John song.

My favorite part is that the "Bob" voice for Tulsa is actually a "Bobbie;" he's a SHE!

Playing The Scorpions, Nirvana & Kiss actually puts them hotter than Mix 96... who thought 96 would end up being our "mainstream" AC?

I'm not ready to say one way or the other on whether this will be a success. My first thoughts upon listening is, "this sounds like a mess" but I'm willing to give it some time. I'm hearing a LOT of 80s, which could be good, could be bad, but (as mentioned above) plays on a lot of other local stations.

Unfortunately because of dumping Charlene not that long ago, this ends up looking not like a strategic programming move, but simply a cost-cutting measure.

Somebody ought to snap up Carly in a hurry; she's a true talent.

Also, somebody PLEASE back off the compression / limiting / clipping on 92.9... you've got one of the best, biggest FM signals in town... you don't need to crush everything! Makes my ears hurt... UGH...

92.9 joins 106.1 as yet another Tulsa station operating with zero people in house only a computer.

Earth to everyone in the radio business:

1.) Local stations aren't making money like they used to, even here in Tulsa.

2.) If you listen to Sirius/XM you will know the world is getting away from any type of music radio with personalities.

3.) "DJ's" are great for talk shows. But the mentality is that they get in the way of music and are expendable.

And its strange that KRAV was a mainstream AC for decades before KBEZ gave them competition.

I wonder what caused KBEZ's downward spiral..? It seems like mainstream AC is taking a huge hit around the country.

Did we lose Delilah in Tulsaland forever? Sad day for Oklahomans today.
