Changes at KRWM

Heard last week that longtime Warm PD Laura Dane got axed and that former KWJZ PD Carol Handley is the interim PD. Any info or insights on this? I'm surprised it hasn't been reported on this board sooner.

There were some blind box ads in trades and Seattle Times for PD and airtalent for a "contemporary" Seattle station. Wonder if KRWM is making changes all around or maybe Laura got the new gig. Blind box had to be for KRWM, KBKS, KUBE,KLCK, KPLZ, KQMV or KNDD. Guess the END or KUBE is the most likely candidate. Doubt it is KLCK since they just hired a staff. KQMV is doing very well in recent PPM's soundingly beating KBKS in prime 25-54 demo. Could be KBKS, but Clear Channel would most likely replace Jackie and Bender with a syndicated show as they have in other markets. They just did so in San Diego to their top station, putting Jessie in mornings. Jessie tracks nights at KBKS and is quite good. Might be a good call here for them as well, now the KQMV is virtually tied with them in mornings. Seems the Clear Channel way. KPLZ is unlikely unless Kent and Alan are retiring, which could be the case. That would open up a morning and PD position.

KRWM does well at Christmas, but has been challenged in recent times. KLCK's more mainstream HOT-AC approach has hurt them more than KPLZ or KBKS in 25-54 female demos. KLCK now beats KRWM in that demo pulling a solid 5th place in the last couple of weeks behind KPLZ, KKWF and KQMV and KBKS. KRWM is out of the top five and is primarily 55+ giving it a big 6+ number, but not much to sell.

Laura did a great job over the years at KRWM and has much to be proud of. Hopefully she got the job advertised

I think they picked a pretty good person for the job in the meantime. But what would REALLY be nice for the HD equipped Smooth Jazzers is putting Smooth In Seattle on one of the HD channels. It isn't like they'd have anything to lose doing that.......
