Changes at KSPN 710?

Pat O' Brien who now works for KLAC and Fox Sports Radio tweeted this earlier tonight from his account "RealPatObrien" and the "TheCannons"

Has anybody else heard the Mason and Ireland rumors????

Are they going to be fired? Thoughts?

It would be a surprise. Mason and Ireland are both heavily integrated into the Lakers coverage, which is is KSPN's gravy train. Additionally, their show is the most listenable of all the locally originated shows, except maybe Tony Bruno. Pat O'Brien is a so-so mix at best with Steve Hartman. Mychal Thompson was a much better match. By contrast, Mychal is terrible with Andrew Siciliano. There are so many awkward pauses on that show. Andrew was much better by himself, especially when he filled in for Jim Rome and didn't have to play straight man to Mychal's eccentric color guy persona. Speaking of comings and goings at KSPN, anyone know what happened to Brian Long, who was not only a solid broadcaster but also Assistant PD over there?

I would make wholesale changes at KSPN. I agree with Andrew being a bad fit with Thompson. Btw he is not the on the air this week and Mark Willard is filling in. Also being hispanic myself I like seeing latinos get a break, but their reporter Beto Duran is terrible on the air. He sounds like a high school kid doing hs football reports. How someone like that gets be on the air in the 2nd largest market and #1 radio market is beyond me.

Apparently, the gravy train is short a few cars as the word is they didn't make enough to cover the estimated $9M in regular season rights (one of the reasons the former GM is now former.) The ratings increase was a given.
