I hear big changes are coming to KYKX. Tony & Kris will soon be out in mornings. Anyone heard anything to support this?

Always best to include market for those of us not familiar with the call letters.
KYKX is a country-formatted class C0 on 105.7 licensed to Longview.

I think Tony and Kris are fine. KYKX is making money and doing very well (especially in Longview) they wont break something that works VERY VERY WELL!!!

Fred there is only one KYKX!!! And we all know its the Longview station!

You give Ginger and Dru too much credit. Get ready for "Rick and Bubba" mornings. An all-talk, no music morning show!

Well they are the ones programming the station and I am not. If I were programming the station there...might be some changes, but with the climate of radio today and the very very tight budgets, I dont know that even I could justify changing KYKX from what it is right now. Yes live 24/7 would be wonderful, but not practical anymore. When you think that a morning show is generally at least 3 people or 4 as it used to be on KYKX, that is a salary of 200k a year (or close to it), just not practical. Sadly thanks to the economy and new technologies radio doesn't make as much as it used to. So yes I do have to give credit to Ginger and Dru, for keeping KYKX as local as it is and keeping it Longview centric.

Remember that opinions (especially programming opinions) are like rearends we all have them and they all stink! LOL

If KYKX changes morning shows it will be to make more money for KYKX then they can do more local Longview pieces, and improve their product.

I am actually suprised at the amount of local programming on KYKX. Paula Prince, Diane Day, Brandon Micheal, Harland The Sports Guy, and Nascar Mama. Whether you like these folks or not on the air, they are local Longview (East Texas) people that are on the air on a local Longview (East Texas) station. If you look at alot of the other stations in the East Texas market they can't boast any live local on-air people!! Most of the competitors think that voice tracking from Waco, or taking a satellite feed is local.

Seems like for KYKX they only have satellite for mornings and nights. That is pretty good! Plus they have local sports shows and they make money doing them!!!

By the way...Good luck to ya Brandon Michael...I hope you land on your feet! Also...congratulations Charlie O...KYKX is in good hands! GREAT GUYS BOTH!!!!!

I had the priveledge of working with Charlie O at another station in the market...what a great guy and a professional! They treated him poorly at the place we were at and he kept working VERY hard! He is a great guy. ETRG is lucky to have him!
