Changes at Live 105 morning show?

Noticed on Aaron Axelson's facebook that the station will debut "More music in the Morning" starting tomorrow.

Fourth posting down on the "Wall" Page

Does this mean they've dropped the Kevin/Bean show from LA?

Well, jukeboxing is cheaper than paying for an out-of-town show (they have the pay the talent SOMETHING for it at least).

Too bad. Big loss for Bay Area radio. K&B made lots of efforts to reference SFO frequently, as 105.3 was an important addition to their syndication network. Regarding cost, probably was not a big consideration as KITS and KROQ are both CBS Radio properties. Does anyone have any breakouts of how K&B fared in the AM Drive ratings on KITS this year?

Possibly a reaction to KFOG's "younger" focus? I noticed Live 105 did a "Nothin' But '90s" weekend too. Being music-intensive in the AM is a good way to grab people who find KFOG's Morning Show too talky.

Live 105 is throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks. They are trying anyway to bump up their ratings after their what? 1.6 share. KFOG is spanking them and it's just a matter of time before CBS flushes that turd down the toilet.

They have been doing 90's weekend's for the past few weekends

I told you long time ago (at the time they fired Kat "meow"). CBS 105 need to hire some super real talent that works for the Bay Area. Some out of town show didn't work for the Bay and they pulled the plug. stuffs like that people p_i_s_s_e_d at the radio station. As a result, 105 needs to rebuild their fan base, creating some thing that works, and rebuild their image that move to the future.

A good demographic of people with money to buy things have pods and phones are they listening to music on the radio?

because broadcasting music on the radio is getting obsolete, that's why more and more news and sports radios are on the FM dial. I dont blame them.

Yeah, we were disappointed to only get eight months on the air at Live105. It is a station we have wanted to be on almost as long as there has been a Kevin & Bean show.

Realistically, it is tough for a new morning show to gain traction in a market with many other quality programs already well-positioned in such a short amount of time.

It was nothing but a great experience to work with Michael Martin, the PD, and to make so many new friends at Live105 though.

Bean

I think live 105 should go 80's and 90's hits 105.3 K-hits, put those call letters to use

Great news! If the fine people at Live 105 continue to think "music intensive" then we have an excellent chance of keeping and enjoying this Alternative beauty! Thank you CBS for not blowing up KITS and for giving them a fair chance to make a go at it! Much appreciated!

Well, this is certainly great news. Music in the Mornings is what Channel used to do, and I think most of the other stations have pretty obnoxious morning shows (KFOG's is the most tolerable) so I'm glad they got rid of K&B in favor of this. Kevin&Bean in itself isn't a bad show, but it was kind of pointless to air it up here. One of the other posts said they tried to make references to SF but honestly I never heard them. All I heard was Hollywood this, LA that, celebrities this, studios that, etc. Then one morning I remember them telling about how there was a funeral procession in LA which ran into a cop car and killed 2 cops -- both irrelevant to the Bay Area and inappropriate subject matter to start the mornings. That was the last time I tuned into K&B.

Mornings just aren't the same without the Kevin & Bean show... they got me through my commute in the mornings. Very sad to see it go away.

I agree with you Shima, K&B were really entertaining. I'm from SF but lived in LA for 4 years and one of the biggest things I miss was LA radio, mainly K&B. They get real talent to stop in or call for interviews, their skits (thanks to Ralph) are usually hilarious, and when they're not they make fun of themselves for it.

@Radical: I actually heard them on many occasions mention SF and the bay area, they even broadcast a show or 2 from the Live105 studios and had many nice things to say - but I get what you're saying about relevance.

As long as I can remember Live105 hasn't been able to nail a morning routine whether it's a show or just music. It seems to always change. As for the "Music in the mornings", it's actually really tired music. Not at all "Modern Rock", well, modern at least 5 years ago. I like a good 90s hit now and then but constant Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bush, etc. is tired. If they really want a unique morning show that plays music Aaron has to throw in a little Soundcheck flavor for some real new music.

It's frustrating as a listener of Live105 for so many years for them to not find their morning niche.
